Due to several comments regarding the nonexistence of certain countries prior to ... or the flag has changed since..., we would like to clarify that we used historical statistics from the territories that are the now existing countries to make them comparable, so indeed we have make a big effort and have presented the right extrapolation of population towards the past of already existing countries (i.e. for Russia the measurement is made on the present Russian Federation's territory inside the old Russian Empire / USSR, for India consider the current boundary instead British Raj, and so on).

Well actually the native populations of the USA and especially Germany have declining populations. For instance the USA white population is already declining, and as a whole the States has fertility rate below replacement (meaning population decline as women have less than 2 kids on average). The only reason the USA is stable/growing (and perhaps Germany too) is immigration, the USA takes 1 million a year. It will change the demographics and perhaps culture of the nation however, by 2045 white peoples will be a minority in America for the first time since it’s inception. Wonder what America will look like in 2100?

Population is a advantage for countries like India to grow. But it should be utilised properly by investment in human capital. Can't you see China growing like heck with its population. Decreasing population is not at all a good sign. It's very important that the average age of a country should be young for it to grow quickly. In the future China's average population will get older making its growth decline

@@seenaremesh1562 When you people compare India and China, why you forget that china is almost 3.5 times bigger than India in area, with bigger area you get bigger agricultural lands, bigger water reserves, large amount of natural resources etc. Here in India High population is reducing fertile agriculture lands day by day, reducing and polluting ground water levels. A report by NITI aayog says that by 2030 at least 40 cities of India will run out of ground water. There will shortage of drinking water, shortage of foods. High population is already damaging the ecology and environment, losses due to climate change can also be observed. Population level of India is beyond it's sustainable capacity..

@@AnkitKumar-lu7uh a large part of china is inhospitable. And about India, it's not really the population reducing the fertile lands of Indian. Its the overuse of modern farming methods and chemical fertilizers by farmer's which should be blamed. Every farmer should be aware a about the side effects and long-term effects of overusing chemical fertilizers. About water depletion, still more than 50% of houses doesn't have a proper rain water harvesting system in India. The government should make rain water harvesting mandatory in every residence. Many cities in india get a lot of rain like Mumbai and Chennai but the poor drainage system of water is making all of the rain water getting polluted and ending up in the sea

Also, India had the worlds largest population from ~4000 bc to 1700 ad. Our population almost stopped during the British Raj. Do you know that India consistently had a higher population than China for much of the ancient ages. But India's population became almost half of China's during British occupation. Along with that, the British starved 10's of millions of Indians by transporting grain back to England so that their population was well fed. So no, for the past Millennium, India's population growth has regularly suffered from mass murders from foreign invasions, famines and starvations. In the past 1000 years of slavery in the Indian subcontinent, you can say that our population growth has reduced significantly compared to western countries. Now over population is a bad thing, but you cant generalize and say 'Indian's have too many kids' because no, compared to other countries, our population was systematically reduced.

@Mack The amount of wealth in Africa by 2100 is hard to project, though Africa is better than many westerners say it is. There are many common misconceptions, such as that every country is a shithole, no one has electricity, it was always be poor, all African countries are reliant on aid, every one lives in huts, etc. None of these are true. While the majority of Africans still live in rural areas, as is typical of developing nations, urban areas are rapidly expanding. In cities, Africans have access to electricity, indoor plumbing, telephone service, and even Internet access. Now, some countries are better off than others, and some are genuine shitholes like CAR. Also, when talking about the economies of African nations, some of the world's fastest growing economies are in Africa. Education is also improving, including education for women.

I already posted a short comment about the usa population that draws doubt , and I dont want all my comments to be negative so let me say right now, this was fun to watch. I watched it from beginning to end. And I trust the presentation is a faithful rendition of carefully calculated data. Truly, hats off to Global Stats, this was entertaining -- but it does also make us think about these projections. Personally, I have some doubts about the UN projections. According to previous estimates, Brazl should have already peaked below 180m people. Just a few years ago, not even a decade ago, the un estimated brazil would peak at just over 200m, where it was then. It is steadily approaching 220m and is still growing. The only nations that are "successfully" peaking and shrinking are post-industrial service economies: Russia, Japan, Korea, parts of Europe, and China. China is especially illustrative: they barely count. They _just made it_ to a service economy. They also just started peaking. UN mid-tier estimates assume that empoverished nations will do the same thing. I doubt that. I think the UN estimate is essentially optimistic. I dont know by how much, but.. I wouldnt be at all surprised if a high-tier estimate was the reality.

@@ennui9745 200 million in the Philippines is way too overpopulated, too overcrowded, and that's a bad thing. Because how exactly are they going to fit over 200 million people with that kind of small land mass terrain with densely population? It means poverty level will increase more rapidly, and very less limited resources are going to be available to feed 200 million people, and starvation will increase too. Don't do that it'll make things worse. Be thankful Philippines won't reach that level of overpopulation like Indonesia, and Bangladesh currently is todaly because the Philippines is going to be developed nation by then in the incoming 40 years from here.

@lilmario6931 You are correct, Mexico is becoming more developed year by year, and the country has change so much that some organizations considers Mexico as a developed country. As for the fertility rate use to be 6.83 children in 1964, and the current fertility rate has dropped to 1.73 children in 2023 according to world factbook. Mexico use to be a primitive country in those times, and now things had changed dramatically the past 60 years. Free universal healthcare ranking the 21st, tuition free public universities, parental paid leave, abortion is legal, visa free entry for 164 countries out of 192 for Mexican passport, credit check, old colonial cities and villages from the outside but very high tech in the inside, produces among one of the best engineers, same sex marriage is legal nationwide, abortion is also legal nationwide, the 7th most visited country with over 45 million international arrivals, the most UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Americas, very few Mexicans are crossing the U.S./Mexico border nowadays today, human develope index is 0.78 and increasing, has enough resources to feed it's population, and the list goes on. Wait in 10 more years I guarantee you Mexico will become a developed country by the looks of it with strong signs emerging country.🇲🇽
