the USS Liberty was an honest mistake that happened like 60 years ago. In the middle of a war, a recon ship (which by design is supposed to be obscure to detect) spooked the Israelis and they sunk it, not knowing it's American. For which the Israeli profusely apologised, compensated the families (as much as possible) and still commemorate the fallen Americans as heroes... What else do you want?
