The "distortion" is called Clipping Its only really fixed by buying better hardware... Or lowering gain on the audio interface and raising input volume

Or run some compression early in the audio chain so that it is harder to exceed 100% volume level, which will also help with keeping the level constant when you talk softly. Compression is simply a stage that amplifies the level and clips any peaks above a certain level. And try not to yell into the mic.

Dropping the gain was my first thought too. Nothing good ever comes from boosting the gain! As proven by Admiral Kirk in the first ST movie :P (I kid, of course).

Compression will even out the spikes as well as raise the noise floor, making lower volume items more intelligible. A limiter on the end of the signal chain set to -1db before 0 can eliminate distortion.

@@stevelucero9047 - Well said, Steve! Compression will tend to increase the level of ambient sounds (fans, pets, TV in the next room, etc.) so a limiter to clamp the max level is really what you are looking for.

For distortion (clipping) there is just two solutions as far as I know: 1. Lower your general volume, will make everything quieter so you won't clip but also the quiet parts will be even quieter. 2. Compress the audio so that peaks are lowered and lows are boosted. Probably the better solution as it's nicer to listen to but also harder to do.

@@TremereTT Well you don't remove the overdrive you just compress it/remove the peaks, but yeah that's pretty much the effect. Also honestly don't know about bass but that's how my guitar works.

Distortion on mic = overload somewhere. Simple solution - move mic away 5-10cm. This game's sound quality is fine....

Clipping is just a sound overload at some point in the audio chain. You can either fix it by turning your gain down (not necessarily the best choice since it turns everything down including the quiet parts, unless you’re clipping on the way in), moving 4-6 inches away from the mic, or using a compressor that squashes down the louds (and therefore allows you to bring up the quiets) to make the sound more even

Sometimes, even though I watched the same match on twitch, I just do this and watch it again on flambass' youtube and leave a like. dunno why.

Software mixer with adjustable automatic gain control thresholds should help a lot if not fix it altogether.

Huangehe is an amazing fire starter and good AA platform. Those who say it sucks, don't know how to play it. ESPECIALLY with the unique commander that gives it improved Demo expert and survivability

When I start with a very good game (for me :) ) it normally is just downhill from there :)

Smolensk is gonna be super annoying

If you think that’s most players almost all NA players try their best to get deleted within 5min. EU is a slight improvement.

You sound perfectly fine to me.

The DM player, 41.51% win rate. I would never have been able to tell from the plays being made.

i Got 935 battles whit my Hindi, 511win/424def/581suvived, i love my Hindi but in the lastest patch WG nerfed to the hulk and is not match for a DM or HE spamers (curent meta) beside its a very hard/highend ship to handle and not for everyone for sure.

However, the reason that Hindenburg is in a bad place in the game right now is due to the meta. He cannot tank at long range as the armour just does not stand up to plunging fire from AP. HE wrecks him. The concealment is bad and the torps are short ranged at 6km. Hydro is good but then CVs focus you if you don't have a defensive fire, not that defensive fire seems to be worth a damn anymore. Ships with HE spam wreck it and AP does as well. Fighting in close does not work either as you just get focused while your team mates hide and snipe. Hindenburg is a jack of all trades and master of none. Which is a bad thing in World of Warships. Hindenburg needs some more buffs. Concealment and adjustments to the armour scheme at the very least. Perhaps a better heal with a quicker cooldown.

@@ilmonza So what is this nerf you mentioned in the most recent patch? It's a heavy cruiser because of the gun size. In this case, 8 inch/203mm. The HP pool and range are great, well above average.

DM is a good ship but I can't help but wish with all the power creep that it had a stronger bow armour. It is just too fragile. It eats citadels constantly. As to the Mic issues, yes, it has been a problem for some time. When you get excited and speak loudly, it's awful. There might be a setting in the controls to compress the high and low volumes so there is less dynamic range between the low volume and highs.

Seriously i've come to the point where i strongly believe that raming needs to GO! Stop the senseless and pointless raming rampage!! Oh, and btw gg Flambass.

Worcester is the tier 10 Atlanta. Spam 152mm IFHE from behind an island and watch everything burn. Also trollish armor. Just like the Atlanta.

@Athan asios I've had plenty of times I got hit and killed instantly. I am aware of the whole "get behind an island" thingie, but being not good takes me a while to find my way and often miss one island for another. I am fully aware it's my fault, but Worcester doesn't allow for any mistake, and God knows I make those. With DM, for instance, I can take a hit and find my way to do something.

My wife went full broadside and I did go down like a man.

I would say turn the input level of your microphone down to 50%, record and just talk very loud in it, when that is still distorted then it is the sensibility of the microphone and if you can't set your mic less sensible then you need to move it a bit further away.

wish i was that good in a DM.

It's all about keeping track of enemy ships (especialy the ones that are not spotted) and positioning yourself so you can engage one at a time from angle that favors you. If you do 120k damage, but die after 11-12 minutes, then your problem is not your efficiency, but your survivability

kysz1 I just seem to never have enough time to do the damage or I get focused to death, only got 55k average damage and average 1million potential. Best I’ve had was 140k done and 3.3 million potential.

Plenty of them did and still do, which is why WG added that sign as an Easter egg to remind them that it’s not a good idea between the likelihood of torps or cruisers being there. Of course, most of the battleship players ignore that sign and still sail right down that side of the map where they can’t support any of the caps

Really ? I have the opposite problem, in games people expect the US cruisers to be way better than they are, people complain when i'm dodging from island to island blowing things up, they don't grasp that US cruisers WILL blow up if you give them an evil look, or yell at them, or sneeze in their general direction. Don't get me wrong, I love playing them, but they are frustrating at times just because of their general one shot from a BB and you're dead thing.

Same. I’ve played some DDs and will eventually start playing them more once I finish up some of my cruiser grinds, but the container gave me probably one of the few ships I wouldn’t have any chance of using in the near future

Scariest thing about the Des Memes and those auto loading, rapid fire 8" rifles? They were built and used in anger, unlike every other tier 10 cruiser. Classic case of how WG does balance. Look at that enemy DM, look at you, clearly one balances the other LOL. Your friendly GK clearly played well, too. 2.6k is a damn good result especially in something that from what I've heard has suffered power creep from all the balanced fantasy HE spammers.
