It's what the 4th Admiral Hipper class the Seydlitz was originally going to be and has all the problems of the Admiral Hipper class a vastly over sized ship with the armour and armament of what in game are tier 6 and 7 treaty cruiser designs. The Germans where just out of practice in large ship building and where very inefficient.

That was some truly pro shell dodging!

Re: is being in a clan worth it, it is definitely worth it for the discounts and benefits alone, especially for F2P players, it's the more worth it the less money you want to sink into the game.

There are also xp and credit bonuses that being part of a clan helps with. Then talking with the other members shortens the learning curve for new player.

There is only so many gimmics you can think of, that make any sense in game that aspires to be semi historic accurate. Its only matter of time they run out of ideas, and it look like this time is getting close. Thats why(apart from the obvious-more moneeey) we are seing subs beta tested. Devs are ruuning out of ideas how to design new ships in unique way.

WG are garbge at game design and balance, they have made powercreep standard now, and they have no place to go other than that, couple that with their clear Bias toward and against certain nations its even worse. WoWs has no balance and no variety, it's become a very boring static and stagnant game.

I agree it needs a heal, like Eugen has. It doesn't have armor so it needs a way to mitigate. At this rate I would rather have Graf Spee over this. Graf spee can at least deal damage and mitigate better, even as bottom tier.

Why DID they nerf the bow and stern plating anyway, this thing doesn't strike me as OP when it lacks heal to begin with, so the Nerf it got just baffles me.

I was stationed in Mainz for 6 years

Kind of agree with you Flambass, the ship needs a heal to keep it in combat longer. Other than that if you compare the fire chance at the 32mm pen threshold she is comparable to all other tier 8 6 inch cruisers, ballistics look solid, good AP alpha if not pen.

The HE pen is 150mm / 4 = 37,5, or with IFHE 37,5 * 1.3 = 48,75mm or it rounds up to 49mm.

He sure is a beautiful ship.

I think it's fine the way it is. It's looking better than the Hipper. Giving it a heal at T8 is a bad idea in my opinion.

I wished a mechanic to actively strafe planes would still be nice... they don't need to out right disappear as they used to, but it should hurt. It would be sooo much better if you could somehow actually contribute to AA as CV.

I think the Mainz should get the Nürnberg turrets, Would iirc be better armour, reload and traverse. I think right now it has the KÖNIGSBERG values... yey... WG should rethink their "German HE flavor"... the german HE flavor is easily recreated using IFHE... just that most other HE shells will still be better with more damage and still equal or better fire chance...

Without a heal, it's a Tier 7 ship. it's nothing more than a Nurnberg with more guns. Give it a heal and the torps off the Graff Spee, 8km, and you have a solid ship.

@Mike In some cases,it makes sense to repair a single fire.For example,why let it burn if the one that set the fire can't shoot at you anymore?The AR buff ain't worth it....IF you even run AR.

@@tunnar79 Thing is if you do a single repair on a BB what still has high HP that only lasts on avg 20 secs so then theres nothing to stop you getting set on fire 3-4 times before it recharges which could kill you. When im set on fire in a BB I just let the 1 fire burn itself out and if I have1/2 hp i will use heal to midigate the fire damage and use damage control as a last resort IE 2-3 fires

it`s the Yorck, with the Shchors guns, made a T8. Poor thing.

He might have died if that salvo connected better, i always launch my plane if the ship has one, when i think i`m about to die. You never know if it`s going to help your team by accidentally spotting something.

If this is based on the M-class cruiser of WW2, it is only supposed to have 8-5.9in guns, not 12-5.9 in like the model shows so this is wrong. And a max speed of 36.5 knots it should be knocked down to at least tier 6. It's an up-gunned Konigsburg.

Maybe it could have 8-10Km Torps?

I’d consider this ship if she gets T7. No one gonna get interst on T7 ship in T8 MM..

As a premium ship nope would not buy with out a heal. It will be a very situational ship, and based on the map and luck for most to have a good game in. On the plus side nice to see that they are not releasing another OP ship. It does seem there is still a bias on a few lines, with the Germans and the Japanese getting least offerings. At this point I would say they have been sidelined. This ship at teir 6 or 7 would be ok, at 8 without a heal or better armor it will just be a easy target and if your team gets 2 in a game, the enemy will have a easy win.

The ship has a 6 second base reload now

half/ most your damage due to fires. a bit wonky considering HE does less then half the damage AP does in German ships ( the balance between AP and HE is worst in Germans) This ship feels like it need something else: Nurnberg turrets: 6 sec reload and faster turret rotation, longer range torps, heal or better HP pool, short duration smoke.

This looks like a hipper without the benefits of being hipper (armor, great shells, etc)

wanna ask something, for both of u guys who already have Yamato and Republique, which one u prefer? My IJN BB still at Nagato (near get Amagi) and FFNF at Alsace. Condition, i right now can skip alsace to repu with fxp and after i get the B hull of amagi, i can skip izumo to yamato. I really love to play France BBs (fast velocity and reload, fast speed too also good AA) but also after i try Yamato, my friends Yamato, i really love it too. Im asking this for CB or Ranked, thanks in advance.

Beeing in a Clan is worth just because of the repair discount alone! Sadly opening a clan is costly while my whole office plays WOWS, we aren't in the same Clan because of that pricetag on creating a clan... Also I am a cheap guy , but I'm not so cheap that I wouldn't want to pay the devs and artists and economists of War Gaming for their product. I would pay the same for WOWS as much as a AAA title. I just don't see me paying memberships or these gigantic amounts collectors pay for premium ships. If you look at the bottom line a you see that some people pay many thousands of galactic credit on that game , that's just borderline crazy.

so then noone would leave spawn,just get a lock-on enemy in their spawn and spam them with missiles,certain lines would be 'stealth' and be radar proof? one ship can take on everything thrown at it? i dont see how modern ships could work, these ships we already have are dumbed down into fantasyarcade as it is :D

2 thinks Flambinio: Not 50mm, but only 49mm pen with IFHE sadly, and not T6 but T5 guns / turrets. If they were T6 - Nurinberg ones, you would have 6s reload and not 30s, but 23,7s turret traverse, which would made it much more competetive T8 cruiser... And some "gimmick" WG plss ? Just give her the 27mm bow and stern as planed, cause this is really Hipper class cruiser hull... Thx, ship balanced, problem solved.

The Smolensk does better direct damage with 1/6 pen 130mm HE than Mainz with 1/4 pen 150mm HE, AND it gets more fires per 100 shells I swear... Smolensk needs fire chance nerfed to 5% or less. And more...

The Mainz has a theoretically fire chance of 8% stock (11% with flags), Flamass got 10 fires out of 369 hits that´s less than 3% actual fires! And after all i seen about the Mainz, this seems to be the normal case and not some bad luck. This ship is waaaay to underpowered.

At this point, I don't think new ship lines/gimmisks are what the game needs. What about new content? New Halloween stuff would have been cool instead of the same stuff from 2 years ago. Last year, we played subs, which were ...different, but enjoyable. I would love to see something like a historical battle option. Battle off Samar; Battle of Midway; Battle of the Java Sea; Just something other than randoms all day long.

I don't think Mainz will be meins. No heal, the same shitty torps, moderate rof. Simply too mediocre to get it. I'd rather play my Prinz Eugen.

Wait isn't this basically the proposed and planned 155mm gun CL hipper? So why not name it after the two ships that were actually planned as CL's, seydlitz and lützow? ...So instead of maybe ...not beeing total sh*ts and give it as techtree alternative , WG just went scharnhorst with it? ...figures

its definitely not a bad ship, its more forgiving to play compared to many other tier 8 ships, but these days people always want ship that is great and need little skill to play.

Finally a new ship that is balanced! You might say this is underpowered but it's just as good as all the other ships that you can make work but they just got powercrept to hell. Nobody should be able to only play OP ships and then nobody would complain about balanced ships being weak. I'm tired of WG only releasing OP ships.

Basically it's a german cleveland. No radar, poor HE, good hydro, short-range torps. Does it get IFHE built in like all other german ships? She looks pretty, but the concept seems a little underwhelming.

She gets the 1/4 HE pen like other german ships. However the german 150mm guns do less damage that US DDs and suffer so badly from saturation (or just being that bad) that even under ideal circumstances most of your shots won't do damage... even against DDs. At least that's the german cruiser guns, the 150mm DD guns do full damage with regular firechance.

I love you Flamb, but you can't sit there bitching about not getting pens when ur shooting a GK from max range, same if it was a Kremlin unless your aiming for the noses or rears where they have 32mm armor. This ship gets the 1/4 pen German HE buff, so you don't even need IFHE to make the guns work like all the other light cruisers. If you had focused the any other BB you would have been getting alot of pens. This ship def needs a heal though, like every other T8, but it's German so WG'ing doesn't care.

Why the Deutschland/Lützow and Admiral Scheer, which would just be variations on the Graf Spee as they are all Deutschland class? The same with the Blücher, which could ever only be another variant of the Hipper / Prinz Eugen of the Admiral Hipper class.

I'm saying, why make up ships.Yes, the Mainz was a Kolberg class ship...so why have it as something different. And there are other sister ships in the game. ( the American Battle Ships) Yes we have the Hipper, the premium Prinz, and Graf. So, would one more hurt....one better than the Mainz is all I'm saying. One with history.
