World of Warships - Dumb Luck
Good judgement can often look like dumb luck to the less skilled. But sometimes it is just dumb luck. How do you tell the difference? The artist formerly known as Flambass is open to suggestions.

it's the kind of luck that comes from experience - you predict what opponent will do from the battles you have played on DD; it's just like firing blind torpedoes spread because you know someone on the other side will try to cross that straight or take a peek from around the corner
@steeljawX

Well it's this plus a bit of luck that the Yuugumo decided to default to this common tactic and didn't try to "ghost" around and attack them from stealth everywhere he could. He just stuck to that island "waifu" and refused to leave, which is a bit of luck. But yeah skill and luck mix.

In WoWs, I would liken it to blind firing DDs in smoke. If they are shooting from within smoke, you have a rough idea where they are. Most DDs don't move while firing out of smoke or move in a predictable forward and back pattern. As such, I can be pretty accurate blind firing DDs in smoke. However, like you said, it is a combination of the skill and game-play experience I just described. This gets you close enough that RNGesus can decide whether or not it is your lucky day. :)

@jefftuckercfii
4 жыл бұрын
@@CapitanoAraym - Agree on the full secondaries build. Go for range, but manual secondaries are not a great way to go. As you stated, secondaries on one side of your ship are wasted with manual. Also, aiming is almost too precise at brawling ranges. This is bad, because the aimpoint is center mass at the waterline. I have Massa and Tirpitz and was running manual secondaries on Tirpitz during the one-on-one ranked sprint at Christmas/New Years. In one match against a Bismarck, the secondaries scored 125 hits on Bismarck...and got zero damage...because of what I just explained. Since that game I took manual secondaries off both ships.

Its exactly like firing into bushes in WoT, except your ship can't run out of ammo, so it was exactly what he should have been doing.
It's a Flambass video, whelp we know how this is going to go. Oh wait a second... this isn't Two Brothers.
"Gneisenaus, yep, Georgia feels your pain." But Jingles, Gneisenau's guns are less accurate, and that's before taking into account that Georgia gets the artillery plotting room upgrade. This is just further proof that Gneisenaus are SUPPOSED to close to torpedo range.
iirc I remember RogueMonkey assuming the venezia had rpf on his captain, because he kept on pinging squares on the minimap to alert the team of the yugumo's potential location and blindfiring into those squares
"A secondary build isn't the best idea" (Flambass' secondaries opening up on DDs over 11km away, definitely a secondary build)
Uhh, Jingles, I'm pretty sure it was Minotaur that was shooting at Flambass in the beginning, not Kutuzov. And his shots at Odin definitely didn't pass the island, he didn't even fire his rear turrets. Aand the AL Yukikaze was defending, not capping. Aaand he definitely was in the shooting range of that Des Moines. Jingles really went turbo with the Jingles moments this time :D
You'll never get a complaint from me about featuring Flambass games or those of other CCs or KZreadrs. I watch almost all of Flambass' KZread postings already, but seeing the game with his in-the-moment commentary on stream vs. yours made after the fact are not only informative but entertaining. Keep up the good work.
*THIS IS NOT JINGLES!* At 5:01, Jingles said something he's feels bad about for Gneisenau captains instead of making fun of them! He never does that!
being undetected can lull you into a sense of safety which makes you behave in predictable ways
That's INSANE! Keep it up, The Mighty Jingles.
jingles tells us not to spec secondarys, but Flambas has specked at least partially into them
The Venezia said in Chat that he has RPF, but i have NEVRE seen it used like that. I had to chekc him out, and turns out he´s almost a unicorn. That was lucky, yes, but pretty impressive.
Jingles questioning Venezia's spray and pray actions, while constantly using phrase "If you throw enough shit at the wall, some of it is going to stick". =)
Just watched this on Flambass' channel. Great vid.
that yugumo was probably sitting stationary around a corner waiting to fire torps at the first ship he spotted, so good judgement for the venezia since it would be much harder to hit that thing after he is spotted and going full speed
The Venezia has so many guns that it's like emptying your shotgun at random bushes "Just to be sure..."
I saw the tail end of this game on stream. It was incredible. Like seeing an unicorn!
Jingles - I would like to complain that you don't show enough of Flambass' videos.
6:40 The reason why the Georgia's EIGHTEEN inch guns only dealt about 7000 damage is because Flambass didn't aim for the number 2 barbette at a range of less than 5km. He aimed behind the barbette, half his salvo missed, and 2 out of the 3 shots that did land likely penned through the side of the ship, hit the angled citadel top and ricocheted up through the deck and back out of the ship. If he had aimed for the barbette at 4.6km range, that would likely have dealt somewhere between 10k-40k damage.
According to Flambass's teammate, who watched the stream of the player who killed the DD with blind fire, he was using radio location to fire on the DD.
Obligatory: "Damnit Jingles showing nothing but his famous internet friends!"
It's the old "battleship captains steaming in straight lines" luck that counts.
The venezia was pinging the map while using RPF. I guess with rpf and noticing when they are spotted may have helped him lock in the lucky shot that killed the DD. I noticed in the chat earlier in the game when someone asked the Venezia after he pinged the map "radio?".
That Yugumo .... One of the few IJN DD players who remembers that IJN DDS outside of the gunboats still have guns.

F 'em Jingles! Play whatever replays you want! Thanks for the vids!
Apparently Jingles has ninja reactions, From the time of spotting the torps to impact on Ibuki was 10 seconds. So finishing a turn you find a torp coming dead straight on to you and you have approx 10seconds -0.5 second reaction time, -1second decision time, -9.5 rudder shift time = -1seconds to decide if you're going left or right, So its 50% chance of getting hit if you go left or right. Unless you're Jingles, He's perfect always. The petrapavlosk had a 2 second reaction time to the 3 torps, He then had 10 seconds before impace so maybe 5 seconds? to execute either A) turn in and take 2 in the side, B) turn away and take 2 or 3 in the side, or C) go straight ahead and hope to outrun one and take 2 in the side, He tried C and then tried B so took 3 anyway, Nothing he could have done.

It is basically an Iowa that has a different hull, different guns that fire different shells, different dispersion, a different engine, different heals, different repair party, modified duel purpose secondaries, different max speed, different rudder shift, different turning circle, different detectability, a speed boost... but it's basically the Iowa. ;)
Some of those torpedo hits, the ones the cruisers receive while trying to comb the torpedo spreads, seem to be due to not knowing enough about the ship's handling, or not being comfortable enough with it. Others, however, are clearly the result of a lack of due vigilance...
watching your videos actually has made me join the world of warships and the first time I ever shot torpedos in a match a member of my team jetted in front of me and took all four and then starts yelling at me after he saw me drop them in the water. So I was like sorry first time playing my bad and finished the match.
It was a lucky shot but a smart shot. He had an idea where the target was. Reminded me of an episode of Time Team (the archeologist show) they have information that gives them an idea where to dig but will take all the luck they can get.
well Jungles : Kutuziv has 8km Toprs (not really short range), Starboard is the RIGHT side of a ship, not the left and according to the voice chat in Flambass channel, the Venezia had RPF and therefor a pretty clear idea where the Yugumo hung out^^

But Jingles, how many gimmicks or differences does a ship need before its unique enough to be considered its own ship? Can everything in the observable universe be just one comparison away from similarity? That ham&cheese sandwich is Mars with bread and cheese? A cat is a dog with attitude? Salt is just angry rocks.
