World of Warplanes | IL-40P | Review | Tier X | Ground Attack
I was under the mistaken impression that this plane had more gun power than its forerunner, but that is not the case. It is nearly equal to the IL-40, but up tiered to remain competitive. The tail gunner get a minor boost and while the speed is marginally better, that ability to get to a hot location on the map is not to be under estimated. In the end you are left with a Tier X IL-40. That is by no means a damning statement, quite the contrary. The IL-40 is a very strong platform that con flip a zone solo in a single pass. Now you can just do this faster with a higher rate of fire gun.

Those little square shields are in fact shields. They had to move the guns due to engine flame out and blinding the pilot at night. They moved the air intake all the forward and moved the guns under it and the forward landing gear , well more forward. Those shield deploy with the landing gear to prevent debris form hitting the guns.

To be honest, i dont know how this plane perfomres without the soviet female pilot...i have mine with 9 skillpoints and this alone skyrockets this plane's performance(since you dont waste time on light targets). If you have the oportunity in the future, dont miss out on her Vee!She is the best unique pilot in the game! To be honest, the main reason why you get the 40P over the 40 is the amaount of hp you can reach with equipment and protection expert (mine sits at 3500)...guns are a nice touch but dont make much of a difference...
