The interesting thing about the russian version is that when she says "Beware,beware, the daughter of the sea", in russian it sound like "begi,begi ot docheri morey" which is really close to ''begi begi ot docheri moyey" which is "beware beware of my daughter." If you are not listening carefully you can hear the second one, but it makes even more sense.

Russian and German are having the most powerfull chorus, love those versions.

Holy shit so much emotion from the Russian mens choir. Probably just on par with the English. You can really hear the emotion and the utter disappointment that they hold twords Jaina, and this is coming from someone who doesn't know a lick of Russian. Good job on those guys parts, seriously.

Also, in russian version Jaina says "begite ot menya". It means - not beware. Run. Save yourself. Because there will be no mercy.

Russian version is best simply because Jaina is about ~36 years old, when Battle for Azeroth begins. She isn`t a girl from Warcraft 3. She suffered a lot, she buried her beloved, if you know lore. And now her heart beats against the Horde. In Russian version we hear it.

@@lolp7003 The English voice is the actual voice actress for Jaina though; I think the barrier is just in preference. And I've heard plenty of women speak Russian. She sounds like she is in her late 40s early 50s in Russian. Most of the other languages sound age appropriate. Don't get me wrong; I think the Russian voice is more appropriate for the character but I also think the character should be about 50. EDIT: Actually I looked it up; the Russian voice actress was in her 40s when she recorded this.

I don't even know russian, but even I can hear the most feelings in it. I think they were the only ones who knew about the story behind the song.

Забавно, но в русской и немецких версиях есть интересная игра в конце. У нас это: "Беги беги от дочери морей/моей", а у немцев в конце когда она поёт бегите от меня, фраза очень похожа по звучанию на фразу "Бегите от морей/моря". И это очень круто.

idk why people dislike the male chorus of the Russian version. It sounds exactly how the sailors would sing it in a Kul'Tiras tavern. A bit messy, a bit atonal, a bit out of tempo... sounds very authentic for me personally. Also liked the En&De versions of the song, but probably only because understand the words.

Лично я немецкую партию воспринимаю как самую нежную. Я бы таким голосом в любви признавался...

Наша версия хороша, но как уже сказал кто-то, не из-за Хелависы, а из-за мужского хора и лидирующего мужского вокала. От него аж мурашки. Кто-то ещё сказал, что в хоре рассинхрон, но это не совсем так. Это хор моряков, в этом рассинхроне слышится личное негодование и досада каждого поющего. Наш хор звучит самым аутентичным во многом именно из-за этого. Немецкая версия хороша Джайной и хором, но мужской вокал слишком тонок и мягок для такой песни. Китайская Джайна очень мелодичная, но, возможно, голос звучит молодовато для Джайны.

По поводу молодости Китайского вокала. На самом деле нам вообще сложно представить Джайну-Китаянку, но также стоить подметить, что в Китае голоса звучат моложе, нежели в той же России. Там Женщина лет 40 звучит как у нас девушки в 25-30. И да, шутки про курение неуместны :)

Хз. Мне очень понравилась идея добавить не знаю как называется "вибрацию" в голос. Ещё не всё видео прослушал, но вроде пока никто так не сделал.

Разница нашей локализации в том,что в хоре солист поёт в народной манере опертым плотным звуком. В большинстве других локализаций солисты поют в эстрадной манере в полголоса. Пение на опоре рулит,как и всегда.

Да мужская партия в русской версии звучит существенней всех остальных. Сразу чувствуется, что спели настоящие морские волки и пираты, какими по сути они и являлись. Песня звучит не как похоронная, а как обещание: утереться, собраться с силами, вернуться и вломить так что мало не покажется. Беги от дочери морей...

Blizz did such a wonderful job, every single version is epic.

Who does not know russian, there is really cool word combiantion, which you cannot find even in english version. When they sing "beware of daughter of the sea"-"беги от дочери морей" in russian you can hear "beware of daughter of mine"-"беги от дочери моей", so they differ only one letter, and i think such homonym brings deep meaning.

I love Russian and Germain ver! and Chinese Jaina's voice too.

I liked Russian and German most, and the 3. Place to Korean. Chinese was directly after Korean, followed by Italian. The Rest is weaker.

Zharas Kerimbay hmmm, I like the 過去 better than 我來了. It's more like a warning. Don't forget the past because I will remember it. :P but to each their own.

I love the german translation at 1:35 in english its : "Always the pride of our nation's eyes, how could she go astray?" And in german its: "You were the north star of our nation, but then your light went out" - very powerful in meaning, because all sailors orientate themselves at the polar star (nautical star) and in the belief this brings them back home safely and the extinguishing of the light can also be symbolized by the extinguishing of hope. Beautiful work!

God, the lead male singer for the German version @29:16 has the most beautiful falsetto I've ever heard. Dude sounds like an angel. The Russian version is just as spectacular. If you close your eyes and listen, it's like you're on deck with a crew singing at sea.

Russia totally nailed it! Just enough hope, desperation, longing and something darker. Not over or under done.

One interesting thing about this song is that it requires relatively low female and rather high male voice (the lead part). This compilation gives a chance to compare how well the singers could fit their part. Just a quick look at one of the lowest and highest notes and how different countries' singers take them: Russian - obviously, female lead Helavisa with her contralto fits this role flawlessly. That D3# around 5:26 is not even all that low for her, she clearly can hit a few tones lower. But the male lead, as good as he is, actually cheats a bit :) Especially around 7:31 - correct me if I'm wrong, but to me that sounds more like F4# (backed up with the lower dude hitting A3#) rather than actual A4# (2:58) that appears to be intended. That being said, he actually belts it all the way without going into falsetto and probably went for this little trick not because he can't hit that note but because it'd sound too different from the rest of his voice here. And y'know.. I can buy that as a good excuse. Most listeners won't even notice anyway. French - also a solid female voice, can hit that same D3# (10:00) pretty well, maybe just a bit less comfortably than Russian. Male lead actually seems to have same problem the Russian guy does, but he *goes* for the head voice around 12:07. Eh, tbh if he had to sing it anyway, would probably sound better if he used that same trick, imo. Though in a way it's nice, but a bit out of place in this song of brutal sailors. Portuguese - female sounds a bit strained (14:34), like it's lower than she used to go, but not too bad. Male (16:41) probably has a good deal lower voice and is forced to mix with head voice half of his part, going really unimpressive falsetto at the highest notes. Was there no actual tenor to give this song to?.. Chinese - at first I thought female lead won't cut it, sounded kinda light, but she has a good range and managed it just fine (19:08). And the guy (21:15) actually might be the only one who sings the whole sing *effortlessly*, while still sounding solid male and not cartoony falsetto-ish. Now *that* is a good cast for this part. Korean - female lead doesn't really hit the D3# (23:42), maybe somehow half-hit-half-whisper it. Though other than being a bit too high for this song, is a nice voice. The guy (25:49) is about as high as his Chinese counterpart, maybe takes him a bit more effort but he manages to avoid falsetto fine. German - close to French and is a good match (28:16). Male is really, really too low (30:23), why he even goes for this, srsly? Like half of this song is too high for him. Spanish - both female (32:51) and male (34:58) have to push it a bit. The girl manages somewhat, the guy... well, he does what he can. xD Italian - female barely makes it (37:25), doesn't sound comfortable on low notes at all. Male (39:32) is surprisingly solid here, not flawless in other parts but he definitely can hit all he needs to. Latin America - I'm actually glad I had patience to listen to the last one. Female (41:58) fits really well, almost as good as Russian. And the male lead (44:06) sounds a lot like English guy, but does even better job at it. Pretty much both of them work well here. Oh, and... English - (0:51) well, not sure if they wrote her part having the original actress' voice in mind, but she seems to be pushing the lower notes a bit too, not too much though - as unprofessional singer, it's good enough. As for the guy (2:58) - well, he likely was recorded first and others were trying to copy (except for the Russian guy who didn't bother coz he doesn't really needs to), he's pretty good though. Ok, that's it :) Note: everything above is just an opinion of mostly amateur person and by no means an expert analysis of any kind.

That is beautiful! Russian one also changed the words quite alot because literal translation would be too chunky. Russian choir part that you gave roughly translates as: "What for? What for? O heiress of the seas, What for did you abandon your homeland's shores? Tell, how could the people of your land, Find an enemy in you?"

Это дело вкуса, но на русском мне нравится больше остальных, потому что я понимаю смысл и каждое слово. Еще и шикарно адаптировали, с чувством и эмоциями. Работа правда достойная. Для меня - лучшая.

Мелодия и стилистика песни так и отдают кельтской культурой, Ирландией! Здорово! Жаль однако, что нет версии на ирландском или гэльском! Мне нравится, как в русской озвучке удалось передать этот дух. Отмечу, что в русская озвучка отличается от оригинала большим эмоциональным накалом, в то время как на английском всё несколько более приглушённо. Есть какая-то неотвратимость, чувство растущей угрозы, пробивающееся через печаль и боль. На мой взгляд оригинал атмосфернее вышел, хотя русская версия прекрасна. Вообще ни одной плохой нет. Приятно порадовала немецкая и китайская.

Игорь Луговской О, я тоже думаю, что песня в ирландском была бы хороша! Хотелось бы услышать её, но мечты, мечты. P.S. Честно, думаю, что за эмоциональность мне понравилась именно русская версия, а не английская. Хотя оригинал тоже отличный, но, увы, Хелависа и хор всё для меня решили)

Прослушал всё, но всё же лучшие всех это Русская и Английские версии. Смотрел на многих каналах этот видос, в коментах все хвалят Русскую версию, приятно, что наши лучше всех хоть где-то. От русской прям мурашки по коже!!! Народ давайте выводить эту песнь на всех каналах в топ, задрало говно в трендах, хоть что-то годное пусть будет.

Russian version is really awesome, inviting Natalia "Hellawes" O'Shea from folk band Melnitsa was really right decision, plus unsynchronized sailor voices bring a certain rough "tavern" charm to the song, so you really believe it.

The main singer on the chorus part of the Russian version is amazing!

at least russian male chorus actually sound like a true sailors. They do not have to be professional singers who perfectly repeat one note after another like in other versions, which is perfect for the meaning of the song - dead sailors sing this song about their own death and destiny.

В русской версии она говорит "Теперь я понимаю.... Отец", а в английской "Now I'm listening... Father" Вроде и косяк, но нееееет. В ВОВ он сказал ей, точно не помню как, но что-то вроде "Ты ничего не понимаешь, возможно потом поймёшь" Мелочи!

По-моему так: В 3-м Варкрафте, оплакивая смерть отца, Джайна произносит что-то вроде - "Если бы ты только послушал меня". Но по итогам оказывается, что Даэлин прав - Орда никогда не изменит свою подлую и кровожадную сущность, так что Джайна признает свою неправоту, произнося "I`m listening now... Father."

Проблема в том, что адмирал Праудмур тогда был неправ, а Джайна права. Но после сожжения Терамора и гибели Дарнасса Джайна сломалась и считает что ее отец был прав. А русская версия опирается, разумеется, на слова сказанные в русской же локализации - поэтому и "I'm listening now" и "Теперь я понимаю".

As a bilingual, I can tell you the emotions that share in Esp: Straight up melancholy, The chorus in the enemy upon the rise is not synced they say different things? (Yisus) Esp (MX): The emphasis in this start is pure regret and melancholy while she shows determination in certain areas (Enemies 'pon the rise) showing that she was aware of the situation and there is a real threatening "Beware of the daughter of the sea" chorus, she really does means it and then changes to the soft melancholic chorus to end in a threatening cut in the end. So a few things from listening to the various versions: 1. The VA's they've used for Jaina are badasses. No one can convince me otherwise. 2. Russian will always sound pretty to me. 3. I'm floored at the various female leads on the choir sections. I appreciate them going so hard on that part. 4. If you want to hear the best of the best (in my opinion) sneak a peek at the Russian, German, and Latin American versions.

Серега Орган хо-хо! У нас тут особь: "Оригинал всегда самое лучшее!"? Серьезно, если ты не заметил, английская версия у меня даже в топ-3 не попала! И почему люди считают, что все русское - говно?

Русская версия разительно отличается от оригинальной, и от прочих, которые всего лишь копия оригинальной английской. Во-первых, слова частенько совсем другие, во-вторых, благодаря особенности русского, в котором нет четкого построения фразы по правилам, как в английском, получилось избавиться от двух несколько раздражающих моментов во всех озвучках, включая оригинал - когда Джайна поет Калимдо-о-ор и Терамо-о-ор, протяжно так, в конце песенных фраз, не очень мне это нравится, и в русской озвучке этого нет. В-третьих, только в русской озвучке голос подобран именно такой, какой должен быть у женщины, ведь Джайна не девочка, ей давно за тридцать, пережившей все это дерьмо. Усталый, наполненный болью, горечью, а не голос 20-летней певицы, тяжелее микрофона ничего не державшей. У Джайны много решимости, но, в тоже самое время, она жутко устала, ее гнетет чувство вины, она не может петь воодушевленно. И последняя фраза, то, как Хелависа ее произнесла, просто идеально отображает все это. Ну и хор - выше всяких похвал. Именно такой он и должен быть.

Ребята читайте комменты, мы считали ей не больше 34-х лет - это раз. Во вторых не согласен с тем, что у Джайны должен был голос так сильно поменяться... Джайна никогда не была с баритоном и наоборот всегда имела сочный звонкий голос молодой девушки. И вот вы можете быть в шоке, но не у всех девушек после 30-ти голос такой низкий xD Опять же из негативных моментов для меня - это плохо сведённый хор (да я понимаю, что они там легким каноном поют, но всё равно не стоит оправдывать свою бездарность - задумкой, а то русское кино получается) + никто не берёт в учёт, что Анг версия очень крута тем, что её поёт девушка которая ещё с варкрафта 3 подарила Джайне голос и это как по мне самое атмосферное что можно было сделать. Вот если бы та девушка которая у нас озвучивала Джайну спела бы эту песню, то тогда 10 из 10, а так даже не смотря на потрясающий голос в русской версии, всё равно минус за то что пела другая девушка (как и в большинстве других версиях песни на других языках) . И ещё раз ей такой голос не нужен и у неё его не было, что вообще за сексизм считать, что решительной и сильной женщиной может быть только та у кого голос низкий как у мужчины?))

Кстати никто не заметил, что в последнем синематике в конце цепочки когда Джайне дают кулон отца, то уже та Актриса которая всегда в ру озвучке озвучивала Джайну напевает эту песню и кстати тоже очень даже неплохо!!!

Even though the English and Mexican Jaina/ the Russian male choir are my favorites, never though in my life I would hear something in Chinese and like it.

Оставлю свои 5копеек... Мне больше всего русская понравилась, и именно из-за Хелависа, Наталья просто умница, не просто спела - душу вложила. Ни одна другая исполнительница не стала проникаться образом Джайны - просто спели и все, а Наташа прям с самого начала: с простого напева - сразу создала нужную атмосферу. И потом этот тихий, сдержанный голос, немного с хрипотой, что просто до костей болью пробивает - это шедеврально. Обожаю когда певица не свой звонкий голос показывает а нужную атмосферу своим голосом создает, это высший пилотаж. Так же прослушайте - обратите внимание на окончания, это изумительно просто, насколько певица чувствует музыку, каждое окончание напева и музыкальный переход едины и взаимодополняют вдруг друга, создается единая композиция и тебя просто накрывает, это высший пилотаж, все остальные певицы просто спели звонким голосом без передачи эмоциональной зарядки и музыкальных переходов. Многие хвалят хор, да, ребята вроде постарались, но как по мне, на уровне других спели - пели звонкими голосами, пытались немного передать негодование, непонимание, злобу, обиду...но чет не особо получилось....нужно было как по мне еще жесче...не показывать какой у тебя звонкий голос, а чувство этих моряков передавать... Ну и концовка выше всех похвал, низкий поклон Наталье за такую работу....

ИМХО, концовка чуть меньше удалась, чем всё остальное. А хор - просто эпик вин как раз. Остальные хоры перепевает именно в том плане, что даёт правильный настрой, заставляет верить и сопереживать. Очень душевно спели.

Russian German and Chinese Version of the best

Thank you for compiling these! I listened to them all with great interest. Each country's version also seemed to have different sound engineering. For example, Germany's version had a lot more reverb than others (especially at the start). Some versions had different notes and some had different words (In the Korean version, she says "I understand now, Father" instead of "i'm listening now..."0. While that might not seem like a huge difference, if does take away a bit of impact from the fact that the theme of listening and not listening between her and Admiral Proudmoore has been going on since Warcraft 3. Regardless, I will have to say that I enjoyed all of them very much, but I think Laura Bailey's "..of me" at the end is the one that gives me the biggest chills/goosebumps out of all versions. Personally, i enjoyed Germany, China (Taiwan), and Mexico's the most, overall. The male chorus coming in was an important factor for me. DE, CN, and MX's were very clean, rhythmic, and clear. I had the biggest expectations from Russia on that as I LOVE Russian male choruses but it came off a bit sloppy and the notes slid around. However, I will say that they sounded most like what I imagine sailors would sound like singing this in a pub about 3 or 4 pints down so maybe that was purposeful.

Well, actually - it`s a sea shanty, it`s a song, that sailors sing in a sea, just to dilute that maddening... I don`t know how to put it... "rythmic silence", i guess. Ofcourse - sailors are not a pro-singers, noone picked them in order to make a chorus, some of them (sometimes - even most of them) even don`t have an ear for music. They are just a bunch of random men. Constant "living at sea" not really favorable for voice - it become husky and raucous. Above all - they don`t have exactly matching sence of rythm. In sum of all that - shanty sounds exactly as it should - in my expirience of an ex-leading-singer of a military company :). "In the Korean version, she says "I understand now, Father" instead of "i'm listening now..."" Same as in Russian. And both versions you can call correct. Admiral Proudmoure, before going to batlle with the Horde, said to Jaina something like "One day you'll understand" about the Horde's nature, that it's mean, bloodthirsty nature will never change. In that context Jaina's words "I understand now... Father" are correct. On the other hand - Jaina did her best to persuade her father to stop that campain, 'cause there was no bigger supporter of an idea of peacefull coexistance of Horde and Aliance, than Jaina. After Daelin's death, mouring him - she said something like "If only you'd listen to me". So, with the words "I'm listening now... Father" - she acknowledges, that he was right, and she should've listened to him. In that context Jaina's words "I'm listening now... Father" are correct.

hello! and yes, i understand it's a sea shanty but the style this shanty is composed as, it's no longer a working sea shanty (used to help sailors pull heavy rope or row or do other hard labor) but more a folklore shanty, which evolved from working sea shanties after the industrial revolution. these sorts of songs were still sung by sailors (or other manual laborers) but used to tell stories (either real or fables). this shanty is obviously the latter, talking about the history of daelin proudmoore and his traitorous daugher, jaina. that's why i said i can believe the russian chorus if i imagine them singing in a pub after having had a few drinks :-). the other male choruses were more precise and rhythmic which matched the cadence of the song, as for jaina saying "i'm listening" and "i understand," i think the "i'm listening" makes more of an impact and is more meaningful, even though "I understand" also makes sense. the "i'm listening" phrase refers word for word back to her history with her father where they've each said that they other should have "listened." so when she says it here as a final concession to her father's point of view, it packs a punch. of course, "i understand" also makes sense in that she understands her father's feelings/words/point but the "i'm listening, now...." just makes that reference that much more deep, in my opinion. thanks for your reply!!

As for last words - for example in Ru she also says "I understand now", however, it's because in Warcraft-3 it was also translated as understanding, not listening. Maybe it's same in Kr?
