You know... the whole "exploding after death" thing is a surprisingly smart evolutionary adaptation. If your organs and body disintegrate and burn up after you die, then there is no reason for predators to hunt you because they won't get any meat from it.

There would realistically be no evolutionary pressure for that, but man it would be smart.

Here's some additional facts about all the members. General: The species seem to used webs in some functions, as in Pikmin 2, the arena of the Beady and Raging Long Legs have a web shadow on the arena, and Groovy is shown being hold by a web before the fight. If they create them or just use them from other creatures is unknown. Beady Long Legs: In Pikmin 1, Pikmin can actually hold down a Beady's foot. This would cause it to not be able to lift it up completely. In Pikmin 2, if a Beady was defeated and refought, unmarked Spectralids were supposed to drop from its body, but a glitch prevent it from happening. Louie's notes mentions that it is poisonous, possibly having oenanthotoxin. Raging Long Legs- It's implied that the Raging Long Legs we fought is female, as Mitites will be released if the boss is refought, and the Mitites Piklopedia entry says they lay their eggs in female host eggs. Man-At-Legs- The holes in the Man-At-Legs plating, show that it has similar skin to the Beady Long Legs. It is the only member that is actually edible according to Louie's notes. With the oil also being edible. Baldy Long Legs- In Pikmin 4 night expeditions, a Baldy ring glows red, similar to the red eyes many creatures get during the night expeditions. When killed, Baldy Long Legs released a odd green slime from their orb. The orb is also the only one that split down the middle from left to right, instead of top to bottom. Shaggy Long Legs- Despite what the Piklopedia says, if one remove hair from the knee joints and leaves, they will regrow some the next day. Groovy Long Legs- Louie mentions that it is mostly tendons, and smells like metal. The boss is actually the one who is creating the boss music.

never outright stated but in pikmin 4 but Groovy’s theme could possibly be weird inorganic vocalizations considering how it’s dynamic tracks go beyond the usual attack/defend loop and almost suggests they are sounds being produced as emotional reactions to onscreen action. there’s even a final airhorn and the music puttering out when you defeat it.

My headcannon for the arachnorbs is that they are designed as childrens toys, which would explain the obviously mechanical ones (Man-At-Legs, Groovy Long Legs) and even the seemingly biological ones have elements that would fit as a little toy, such as the torso splitting open and releasing confetti.

Pikmin 2's Arachnorbs have some weird details. The Raging Long Legs will spit out Mitites if you already collected its treasure. Because of the Mitites entry, this implies that the Raging you encounter is female. Also, Beady is meant to spit out Spectralids if you already collected its treasure but some mistyped lines of code prevent that. I don't know what that implies for Beady's biology, or the Spectralids.
