Love the announcer "These cars don't have axles they have tubes". Owned midgets for many years, the front axle is made from a tube

russ gamster? dang that guy has been racing that long, I know the guys has been in the game for a long time but 40 years + now, and even in the 80's they were using a cigar nose roadster design crazy thought that went out with the 70's , though there were still a few silver crown cars in the 90's that had a round nose based on old videos, heh the flagman is something else though hoping about and in the middle of the track when they are running they dont do that anymore save for maybe the choose cone guy when its used thesedays or if he or she is on the ground like a chilli bowl. usually they are behind the wall or over the cars in a platform.

Miss the sound of those Chevy II's. They just couldn't hang with the VW's on those short tracks.

Very entertaining race. Somebody tell me the early leader didn't have a valve cover come loose on that VW. Throw a rod and DNF that's one thing, but not a valve cover going astray. I'm sure they safety wired them. Midget and sprinter mechanics are safety wire crazy and for good reason. Would love to have known what happened. That guy was hooked up!
