This video required - to date - the most extensive editing I ever did. It took me 5 weeks to find time to finish it. The timeline looks like a fractal - but that is also due to the fact I am a bloody amateur at video editing... 😉

Julia from Austria here 😊 What a lovely video. I haven't gotten so many compliments since my dentist told me, that my dental care is top 10%. Next year we're gonna go up against each other in the finals 😎

I need the same dentist! 😂 The Finals are the ultimate goal - but that would probably require a meticulously structured puzzle training program for the next 12 months... 😉

Nice video 😃 I had no idea of the Sudoku championship 😮 I like sudoku and was really into it at some point but never thought of going to a competition. Maybe I should check that 😅 BTW I showed Zornitza your video 😃

The times I travel around the World (Rio,...) because of WPC/WSC are long over. But if the event is near (Germany, Slovakia, Hungary,...), there are chances that I might attend it again. I prefer WPC (logic puzzles) over WSC (sudoku)... Haha, Zornitza got a guest appearance in my video. She is one of the many, though, that I did not meet/spoke to at WJPC2023...

Thank you for explaining how the starting numbers are decided. I also wondered how they allocate the tables.

In the first round the start numbers were allocated randomly (except well-known puzzlers were seated in the front rows). In the later rounds your times in the qualification/semifinal round decided your seating. Sometimes the fastest puzzlers had a table for themselves when others had to share, thus winning your group brought an advantage...

I enjoyed your view on how you got on at the competition. The country rule is a good one as it makes for a fairer distribution of countries in the competition. I think viewers would be put off if the later rounds were mainly full of American and Spanish puzzlers. You also have to bear in mind that for some puzzlers in small countries, accessing puzzles to practise with is not always easy. Look forward to the next instalment.

I agree. The argument of less access to Ravensburger puzzles and having no local competitions is very valid but for me the argument of hugely different team sizes is most important - thus I did mention only this argument. The fine tuning of the country rule is quite a challenge, however. Depending of the number of participants attending and the number of countries they come from, the rule must probalby be adapted in 2024. For 2023 it worked out fine...

I've just been re-watching this video and wonder when you are going to produce Part 2 of your World Puzzle Championship experience. You did this one two months ago. Do I assume that you are finding it difficult to record and edit Part 2? Would love to see how you got on with the rest of the championship. 😃

Thank you for patiently awaiting part 2! Funny that you ask exactly today - because I have finished editing part 2 yesterday and I will upload it today! I was recording the text part of "WJPC recap - Part 2" before Christmas and finally found some time for editing... It took many, many hours to add those videos, photos,... - and I am not even perfectly satisfied. But it will do - people should be used to low-to-middle-quality videos from me anyways. 🙂
