@TheColdWarTV

@jaws666 full UN member status was given to East Germany in 1973 (same time as West germany) by means of Security Council Resolution 335 and official US recognition happened in 1974. Once West Germany's Hallstein Doctrine fell away in 1969, it was just a matter of time that it happened.

@@TheColdWarTV ah cool...thanks for the info,much appreciated my friend.👍👍
An interesting Cold War tidbit: In the early 80's I was an engineer on the "Blue Shuttle" project. The idea was that in the event of an impending nuclear exchange, a number of Space Shuttles, under the command of the US Air Force, would launch into orbit with nuclear weapons on board. They were to serve as a second strike reserve. It never got off the ground, no pun intended, because of scattered management and cost overruns. One of the interesting problems was that the Space Shuttle crawler that transported it from the assembly building to the launch pad was designed for the flat terrain of Florida. To be used at Edwards Air Force Base, the crawler would need to have been able to keep the Shuttle level over gradients in the path between buildings. That turned out to be so hugely expensive that it killed the project.

Another important event was the signing of the Sino-Soviet pact in February 1950 - the alliance of the Soviets with communist China which caused much concern in the US and set the tone for the Cold War.
Yet another incredibly interesting video on a crucial year in history! 👏

I'm kind of shocked at how little videos you have about Israel, I definitely think you should go back to the topic after a couple of years and maybe redo some of the videos, even though you're already quite far past it chronologically with your videos.
Why use a remote, when you can use your kids?😁
😂I like the I-Robot quote about the rules of Asimov. Now look at any robot today and you won't find them. Where you find them? In self driving cars. They just crush over people. They just need a NY voice "I'm driving here".
Hang on a second! Are you telling me that that terribly smart handset on the end of a long grey cable like a phone wire that let my grandmother change the channel on her RCA TV (black and white, of course) was at least 18 years old at my first memory of it? I'm shocked!

The Korean war was one of the bloodiest wars in history? Should we not say something more like 'one of the longest drawn out armed conflicts' to reflect that it extends from history up to the current day? Just a thought.

Жыл бұрын
@@ChineseKiwi yes, as was often the case. Given the context, it's clear what time was being discussed. The armistice was in 1953, and the Cold war ended in 1991. So my question was not 'in which part of the 1950's were the Korean people actively engaged in conflict. That's a better question for a video about the Korean war. With respect to the Korean War in 1950, your response would make sense, but that is not what the video alluded to in its general description of the war being "bloody", which is why I asked the question I asked specifically in the way that I asked it.

Would like to see more about the action in Puerto Rico. I was unaware of that. Regarding McCarthy, I think the publication of the Venona Papers in the 1990s served to confirm much of his concerns about Commies in our government. The awarding of the Nobel Prize to Obama completely undermines the reasons for its existence as Obama had done nothing at the time he received the award.
