Both World heavyweight championships have different linkage

I feel like they should continue the same lineage of the first whc they did the same thing with the us title when it got unified

Apart from the name the new title doesn't share the same history as the 2002-2013 title so this could be confusing to some people

It confused me as well, as on Raw they said that the new World Heavyweight Championship was going to continue lineage of the 2002-2013 World Heavyweight Title and on the WWE page they said they are separate lineages so i'm kinda confused.

WWE says that the title was unified or combined when Randy Orton unified it and retired the day after with the WWE Championship changing the name for a short period of time the WWE World Heavyweight Championship which is just the WWE Championship and yes the title was still around with other people holding it alongside the WWE Championship but it didn't continue the lineage and that's why I am confused on why they didn't do the same with Roman's belts

The wcw world heavyweight championship was unified with the wwf championship at Vengeance 2001, resulting in the creation of the undisputed wwf championship. This marked the end of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship's lineage as a separate title. Also this title history was introduced during a brand split when the world heavyweight title was on raw which the other wwe undisputed title which was unified with the wcw world heavyweight title was on Smackdown.
