    Thanks Jon. I am happy that you are so pleased with the ease of removal of the backing on the sticker 😂

    Happy New Year John and family! FYI To bend your sheet metal trap the sheet between 2 pieces of angle iron at the bend line. Use a piece of wood to tap down on the sheet to start the bend. You need to incrementally bend the sheet a bit at a time till you reach the stopping point. Then either use a flat face hammer to finish the bend or the piece of wood. Go lightly not to dent the metal. If you want more info reach out to me. Cheers

    Ok, now you have us on pins and needles waiting on a new Bigger Project,,, but that's cool (@@) Those of us that are older than dirt, find waiting much easier after 70,,,,hehe 🙂Great to have you back around the shop, Bear.

    Nice to see you back Jon. The surface grinder guard shoud be a good addition on the machine, as will some sort of cutting/ cooling device. I don't know if the blown air ones actually help cool the part as well as the cutting /cooling water. Steve.

    Hi Steve, thanks for the comment, I think blown air will help to an extent, more useful on the mill when slotting to keep swarf clear etc. Cheers, Jon

    Happy New Year Jon! Look forward to the new projects. I think you'll be very happy with a mist cooler on your grinder. I added one to my Harig 612, and it was a game changer for heat control. I run Kool Mist 77 diluted to the suggested concentration, and it works really well.

    Hi Jon, one thing that I've found really handy for the mist coolers, is a pneumatic foot switch to turn the air on and off. They can be found in either momentary or latching, and far easier to use than a ball valve or other hand operated control. I'd include a link, but every time that I've attached a web link in a response in KZread, it gets removed?@@jonsworkshop

    Happy New Year to you and yours Jon. Always good to take a break. Onto you grinder guard Please don't drill into the casting because this means you'll put the sheet on the outer edge, where sparks will fill up the inner edge as fluid stream down between making a ruddy big mess. My years of playing with sheets of metal in the bus and coach building game taught me all about where dust, dirt and rain end up. I'd measure up the internal section folding an edge flowing waste back into it. Use tongue type manufactured clips from the outside down to the under edge/s, this has then given you the ability to quickly remove the panel. 1mm is over kill but you have it .5 would be more suitable even Ali or perspex. OR Thick sheet of plastic wrapped around a suitable frame. Folding 1mm sheet is hard yakka but can be done with 2 bits of angle iron, a decent mallet and hammer/s, decent shifter.

    Hi Jon. Happy New Year to you and yours. On the surface grinder, could you use magnets to hold the guard on instead of drilling into the casting? Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us in 2024.

  • @MarkATrombley

    @MarkATrombley

    Magnets or gravity would be my choice as well. Make the guard with a bottom that fits inside the edges of that end of the grinder then either puts magnets under the bottom or a hunk of steel on the top of the bottom.
