Safety stops for the TG lift cylinders were not put in place, had the HP hyd line blown the TG could have slammed down killing any one in its way. I get it they’re not thinking about that during fire but could have had a much worse outcome.

The only thing much worse that a garbage truck fire is a fire in a garage transfer station. We had a large transfer station in our first due and that thing caught fire at least once or twice a year. We were there for hours putting out the smoldering fire in all that garbage. If it were not for front loaders we would have been there for days. Unlike blacking out a brush fire you had to wear your BA the whole time. In the middle of summer it was a real ass buster.

Our trash company pissed me off. So I got a gallon of muriatic acid at the pool store, barely put on the cap, put a gallon of water in a different trash bag, also barely turning the cap, only half a turn and would easily leak or pop off when being crushed and the two would mix, and get very hot. About 20 minutes later and two streets away I see smoke coming from the truck and the truck was destroyed by fire. You messed with the wrong person.

Question... why didn't the garbage truck driver dump all the garbage first, pull away a few feet to allow extinguishing any burning remnants in the truck and allow for complete overhaul of the garbage pile? Any remaining embers hidden could easily find their way to the landfill where, you know, a landfill fire that can tie up units for days or even weeks... or did a continuance of the video show that? Sometimes these "snapshot" videos need to run a bit longer to get more of a complete picture of how various departments operate on even the more mundane tasks of extinguishing a dumpster or a garbage truck fire, as standard operating procedures do vary throughout the nation and the world.
