    I literally work from home, so this is the video I was looking for. One thing I want to point out to people is that just because you work an 8 hour day doesn’t mean this has to be on for the entire 8 hours. You’re going to naturally take it off randomly throughout the day for various reasons. I don’t sit at my desk and work 100 percent of the day. This was true when I went to the office and now working from home!

  • @FaizAly

    @FaizAly

    Yes! That’s a very valid point - it is not meant to be on for the whole work day. It’s supposed to improve workflow but that doesn’t mean you keep it on for all tasks

    Maybe if it supports to display three 5k monitors. The iPad itself being an external monitor now gives everyone an external monitor without paying extra already. And the movie theatre is only great if you watch alone.

    Thinking about getting a MacBook to use with my Vision Pro. Can I connect to my laptop while it sits closed in another room but plugged in? So if I have my laptop sitting closed behind me or in another room, can I go to control center in the AVP and connect to it? I have a Bluetooth keyboard I connect to the AVP, and would get a track pad to go with it if I could just connect to it conveniently within the avp without needing to go get the laptop and open it up.

    great review, thank you. frankly i'm surprised how many regular, non-tech people have gotten this device. like you are not a developer, gamer or a machine learning person or even a fulltime media creator. this is a huge win for apple. because the price is a bit high and for this many regular people to be buying one, wow. i'm definitely interested in the next iteration, a smaller headset or their 'glasses' edition. Will be priced lower as well. i'd definitely buy in at $1k if it was smaller, more portable.

    As an accountant, user of Quickbooks, Excel spreadsheets, and an app called JW Library, I don’t see the AVP improving things over what one can do on a Windows computer or on an iPad. The AVP doesn’t even connect to an iPad like it does to a Mac, right? What I see it mostly to be useful to me for is watching movies on a huge 4k screen, and for recording and playing back my own videos, kinda like in the movie “Strange Days.” In fact, I’m kinda surprised that in none of the 20-40 videos that I’ve watched regarding the AVP that nobody has mentioned that movie!

    I was one of the early adopters of the vr headsets. At first it was great, but after the I found that I still felt more comfortable working in the traditional way (I’m a 3D modeler) I think this device is just a better version of that. Nothing new but as it was made by apple, it will be more mainstream. It’s a great toy, but it will fail in the same way the 3D tv’s failed. Some people will love it but most people will find this useless.

I understand how that works, but why would that be necessary if the Vision Pro is a full on macbook on your face? If that’s the same thing with this the price tag makes no sense as I can do all those things with a laptop that cost a hell of a lot less. I could use that money for a very good laptop and high end monitor and be comfortable in my home office and have an ALL in one device I can take on the go. Price needs to match usage and it’s not there. I do think gen 2 might be there now that Apple has an idea what people will use it for.

    @@FaizAly Darn, I really wish it had that capability right now. I'd be totally sold. Apple is notoriously slow with some of the really obvious updates though... Could be years honestly. Ipads still don't have a native calculator! Perhaps you can tell me how it looks when you create four little windows on the sole screen with something like magnet? Or is that also not possible?

    @@mattius459 You can open multiple windows. When opening the tab menu, pressing a "new window" instead of a "new tab" opens a new window.

    Also, is it possible to have one chrome browswer open, one safari, and one edge open as a kind of hacky way to do it?

    @@mattius459 Sure you can, but I don't see the point. Easier to just click "new window" in the Safari's tab menu, and open multiple windows instead of tabs, if you want to see multiple pages at once.

    We used to have fucking big sceens and computers those smart ass companies presented smaller screens showing it cooler ...thats from giant super computers big Screens to LCD to LED to Amoled and getting everything done on phones....now they have just reversed it....this dude is literally doing nothing but only magnifying his mac book which he can do just with a $50 projector.... Vision pro would have been of utility if you could have opened up 20 different tabs and setlled them at different locations

    Worth it as a productivity tool at maybe $1000 with some cutbacks to the feature set. Not $3500. Heck - I bought a 4K monitor for $180 and I also game on that too. I understand the appeal here but it's grossly overpriced vs. buying one or a few 4K screens which will get you just as sharp a picture. It's also just more practical having the keyboard right in front of me, the mouse, etc. I own a Meta Quest 2 and it does Virtual Desktop and even now remote desktop too - it cost me $150. I know it's not at all the same quality but I use it for entertainment and not productivity and it works perfectly fine watching a youtube video like this on a huge movie theatre like screen in various environments. Yeah it does not have nearly the resolution but I have the 4K screen when I care for that. Just relaxing with the Quest 2 is great and at $150 the whole headset cost me less than the carrying bag for the Apple.

    An iMac costs more than $1500. A studio display $1600. It’s never going to go below that range. You got lucky if you found a halfway decent 4k monitor for less than $300. For me, VisionPro would make sense, but it’s not going to for everyone. Not yet anyway.

    Cutbacks to the feature set would make it unappealing to me. And that’s not the Apple way.

    @@DavidAlastairHayden I mean just cuz Apple has other very overpriced gear because of the apple stamp on it doesn't really say much. Yeah, I got an excellent open box 4K monitor from best buy during their black friday sale and it was an amazing purchase - it was shipped to my door for like $180. I do WFH and my job gave me 1080P so the jump instead to the 4K resolution is wonderful. Then I also have my xbox hooked up to it too for after work :)
