    Haha :D Spätestens als ich durch Australien reiste und einen 40-jährigen traf, der "nur" Realschulabschluss hatte und seitdem gereist war, hatte ich begriffen, dass das mit der "fundamental education" typisch deutsch ist. Und dann, mit Anfang 20, habe ich verstanden, dass ich selbst dafür verantwortlich bin welchen Weg ich gehe, solange ich in mich selbst vertraue. Danke, dass du all das hier mit uns teilst. Ich finde manche Kommentare wirklich total daneben, bin aber froh, dass du immer weiter machst. Finde deine Themen vielseitig und absolut hilfreich, besonders für jemanden wie mich, der seit Jahren wieder ins Ausland will und doch nicht wirklich loskommt. Jetzt haben sich aber die Lebensumstände verändert und ich denke es ist an der Zeit. DANKE! Du bist super, mach genauso weiter :)

    I usually put a photo on my CV. It depends what kind of job I'm going for really. If I think there are going to be loads of entrants going for interview it's a nice way to get your employer to associate your CV with a face.

  • @ethelmini

    @ethelmini

    There are regulations that restrict what employers can take in to account like age and ethnicity. If you include that information your CV might not passed on to whoever decides who they want to interview. At least keep your qualifications and work experience to a separate sheet.

    Hi Jen! Super-awesome channel you have :) Found it yesterday and have watched like 20 videos already xD I have a few questions that would make me super happy if you'd answer them! So, me (I'm 21) and my brother (who just graduated from high school) want to move to London from Sweden after the summer. First question! I'm wondering which time of the year its easiest to get a job? :) We're thinking of going in the end of august/beginning of September (because I have to work and save up some money this summer). Should we wait longer? Go earlier next year? Question 2. I have heard about Britains' economy not being the best at the moment. Does that make it harder for foreigners to find jobs? I have some work experience, my brother has none, but both of us have very good english and are outgoing! We're not picky about what jobs we'd be willing to have either :). Do you think we have a chance? Question 3. BRIXTON! As I understand it BRIXTON is partly because of Britains' opposition to immigration. How will me being a foreigner, wanting to immigrate to Britain, influence the different aspects of moving to London? Will it be harder to find a job because I'm a foreigner? More difficult to rent a flat? To make friends? We have quite uncommon "nonbrittish" names which will make it obvious we're not from there. Thanks a ton for reading :) Love Evelina

  • @JenDre

    @JenDre

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Evelina Thanks :) I'll try answer your questions but this is just my opinion based on experience, so some ppl may not agree! 1. I think Spring is the easiest time to find a new job - businesses usually have their yearly budget set up and look to fill new positions. Then again I have found jobs in all seasons before. But I think the hardest is just after Christmas an right in the summer! 2. I think the economy is doing okay - it really depends what field of work you are looking to get into. As EU-immigrants you'll have the same chances as British people basically, so I would not be too worried. 3. Not sure I understand this one.. Brixton is a part of London, in the south. Do you mean Brexit? :D And don't worry about your names, especially in London most ppl have very foreign sounding names. All my landlords have been foreigners themselves!

    Hey Jen just watched your video and I think its very insightful thanks! I am thinking of going to London soon (as soon as I finish my degree), I am a dual national (Deutsch und Sued Afrikaner), und wuerde ganze gerne von dir Wissen ob es besser, dass ich hier in Sued Afrika zuerst mal ein bisschen Arbeitserfahrung (asl Maschinenbauingenuer) kriegen soll, bevor ich in London einen Job suche oder ob es O.K. ist einfach dahin zu fliegen und dann dort einen job suchen (mit Bachelor Mechanical Engineering), ist es einfach einen job zu kriegen sogar wenn man wenig 'on the job experience' hat? Sorry, I dont get to practice my German too often haha, basically I want to know if its worth getting experience here first in my hometown or seeing that I already am planning on going to London, if its actually just better to start in London with no experience, assuming I can get it? Also, are companies generally willing to employ a fresh graduate without a Masters ?

  • @JenDre

    @JenDre

    8 жыл бұрын

    +manop06 hi there! I have to say I don't really know much about this as I am not a graduate myself. Generally speaking, I think experience is highly valued here, but I don't know if it is worth getting a job where you are first even though you want to go to London now? I also don't know the job market for engineering jobs as I come from a creative/marketing/music background, which is tough in itself. I'd advise to apply to some jobs just to see if you get positive feedback at all with the CV you have now. If you do, then why not come to London straight away. If the feedback is less positive, try get some experience first.

    Hi Jen! Great video, I have a question. I want to move to London around July, the problem is I basicaly only have money for the first month and I am not sure how much would I have left for the next month rent, I am scared I won't be able to find a job quickly enough, especially since I am 19 and I feel the employers won't take me very seriously. I could get a job for a few months and leave around August/September, but I really wan't to go as soon as possible. I fear my impatience could backfire on me.

    What do you do with these agencies who keep mailing you, but not hiring you ? I haven't seen this in other countries, usually you have to call regularly until they find (or not) a job for you, but a few UK based agencies are asking me to answer the same questions again and again, asking if I'm still available, etc. but none of them called me as they hinted, or offered me a real job, sometimes after years ! So, do they just expect us to call/email them a lot to show our strong will, like any other agency or is it just a UK practice ? or even some kind of secret message ? ? ?

    They're all different I find. Some are very proactive and other ones expect you to do most the work.

    +Robert Paschal i want to leave this shithole called London, maybe we can help eachother, trade places:) London its dirty, jammed with traffic, people hate each other, locals hate foreigners to death because they think they take something from them,food tastes bad everywhere except expensive rest, rents are expensive considering the quality of houses, almost every flat or house had a infinite number of people living there and they almost never get cleaned properly but the most of them all ITS RAINING almost every day and you wake up its gery and dull ,you go to sleep its wet and dull........SO THINK ABOUT IT FIRST.......its a reason why british people escape this country.......even if yoyr american theyll hate you to death just because your accent its different or you are diffrent

    +FHLOO Yo bro, surely thats just a Big City problem overall? And about the rain, as a south african who gets sunny weather 300 days of the year, I think i might suffer if i had to move to london, is it really that dull? Surely there are things to do in your free time that benefit from cooller weather such as mountain biking outside of london somewhere?

    Hello Jen. If I wanted to stay in London after graduation and the scholarship visa is near to be expired, what work should I intend? I mean does it have to be a bachelor degree level work? or I have the option to choose any type of work I want just as a bar job? Thank you for your videos.

Und ich würde extremst gerne in England leben (Newcastle Upon Tyne) , ist so in ungefähr die gegend wo ich Arbeiten wollen würde , ich hätte Ein Zwei Fragen zu dem Arbeiten und Leben in England. Ich bin bis jetzt noch nie ins Ausland geflogen , und ich habe noch keine Job Erfahrungen machen können in Deutschland leider.. :/. Ich wollte nur Wissen wie realistisch es ist für mich in England zu Leben , habe übrigens eine Erweiterte Berufsbildungsreife mit einer sehr schlechten Note in Mathe. :( Danke falls du darauf antwortest vor allem weil das Video schon sehr Alt ist
