The bones are from when the cow has one in its mouth chewing on it as they do ( i have seen it 5 or 6 times with my own eyes) they drop it in the trough when they put there head down to drink

What a fantastic way of life... you're a very lucky man! I grew up in the Zululand Bush on game reserves and farmed banas and avocados near the Kruger National Park for awhile. I really miss that life. Thanks for sharing mate!

Farming in South Africa must be on a whole new level with real animals around.

@@openroadtouring2410 It certainly is, being charged at close range by a hippo bull can get the heart pumping somewhat! Not to mention black mambas, the odd transiting leopard and escaped lions... We also had Nile crocs to consider. It made life interesting to say the least. I live and work from home on a horse farm next to a conservancy area now and see plains game and small predators daily now. Very fortunate to be here but miss the big game.

Nice video, you want to be careful of the goannas if they get a fright and there’s no trees to run up they will run up you !! I’ve seen 2 do this, one ran up. A guy and the other ran up a horses leg with a guy on it and the horse threw him. Nasty little beasties. Beautiful part of the AUs 👍

There is a Facebook group called RFTTE. Ringers for the Top End. They are always looking for boreman. Older blokes preferred because we are more careful than the young ringers.

You could swim in those holes no worries. All the crocs you have shown in your video are Johnson River crocs, freshwater crocs. Not the man eater saltwater crocs. They are like 99.9% of snakes and they will trip over themselves trying to get out of your way. Ask the blackfellas, and they will tell you what I say is true. You're up that way, talk to the blackfellas, listen to them. They have lots to teach us.

I think you are right. The freshies are harmless. I looked so hard to find salties but never found one.

You're doing a great job, thank you for sharing . I was up North as a stockman a long time ago. If I wasn't as encumbered as I am I might be up there doing what you are. Enjoy the majesty of it all. It is an exquisite privilege to experience.@@openroadtouring2410

How long did you do the job for? Would you do it again? We are thinking of taking off indefinitely but need to work a few months every year to keep us going until super kicks in.

We did two seasons. We are planning on heading off again soon. The seasonal routine is perfect to spend Christmas back home with family.
