Hi Shannon 🤗 love all your beanies…you’ve got the perfect head for them! Your cowls are pretty! I like the idea of using the rope looking yarn (first cowl) for longer stitches…I agree with you, they can look messy! I’ve never thought of having a bin of yarn to work with first….it obviously works! Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻🥰🧶🤩

Hi I am Annmarie, I go by Ann, I live in S.wales UK, I've crocheted for 15 yrs, your video came into my feed but I feel it was ment to be. I was into amigurumi but can't crochet it no more as it puts stress on my hand. So clothes is my new crochet project, I've never done clothes before. I’m pretty careful to buy yarns I know I love so I can find things to do with them. I decided to go through my leftovers from past projects. I made headbands, totes (using complimentary colors), a backpack, hats, and other small projects. I don’t normally stray to gimmicky or trendy yarns. Too practical. I’m making a patchwork long vest from my variegated leftovers. I surrounded each with black borders and am about to sew the squares together with black yarns. I used solid colors to make squares as well. I’m not a big fan of granny squares so I made simple HDC squares. Hope you can visualize. New subscriber. Nana Cherry

Hello and welcome, I’m glad you’re here! I appreciate you watch and commenting! I’ve gotten much more careful about what I buy as time goes on too. I agree, those novelty yarns are to gimmicky and not versatile enough for me. You’re best sound cool! Granny squares can be pretty busy, so I’m picturing more solid and a simpler look!

I am curious what other ideas people do to move thru their yarn stash. I have decided that i am just going to start working thru my patterns which include such a variety from stuffies, to shawls, to blankets, to kitchen towels, pot holders & even curtains, & baby outfits, plus cardigans & pullovers as well as summer tees. I have all the yarn for those things so i will just go lightly shopping thru my totes of yarn for making a choice for the pattern i choose to work on. Right now i am working on a prayer shawl, a summer tee & also crochet button topper for 4 kitchen towels.

I am making blankets with my stash, and always looking for more places to donate them. For those ends, a little dab of fabric glue or a few anchoring stitches with some matching thread will hold them.

Good job working through your stash. I have a bin that I'm using to slowly make a Jayda-In-Stitches scrap blanket but I need to get it out maybe once a week and add to it. We had like two weeks of winter this year in the Des Moines area..I may be in the minority but I wish we would have had more cold and snowy weather to wear our crocheted winter wear!

Have to chime in about Hometown yarn…. It is great - VERY warm. Yes, LionBrand still manufactures it if anyone is interested. Made the mistake of leaving the yarn I had just picked up at Joann’s and I had a few in the bag and my teen boy walked by and got curious. He reached in the bag and immediately decided he had to have a blanket made out of it. 🤦‍♀lol It’s REALLY heavy ☺but he loves it. It is still for sale, they have some colors at Walmart, loads of colors at Joann’s and a few in longer lengths at Michaels (which is great for larger projects obviously) Lengths sold at Walmart (a few colors available depending on store at $3.42), Joann’s (showing 41 colors and on sale for $3.99) and of course LionBrand (45 colors availon sale March 12, 2024 $4.19) Solids Weight: 5 oz , 81 yds Neons Weight: 4 oz, 64 yds Multi-colored Weight: 4 oz, 64 yd Tweeds Weight: 4 oz, 64 yds Lengths at Michaels “bonus bundle” Solid Skein Weight: 10 oz. / 284 g Yardage: 162 yd. / 148 m Tweends Weight: Skein Weight: 8 oz. / 227 g Yardage: 129 yd. / 118 m I don’t work for any yarn manufacturer - it just took a LOT to get a blanket done for my 6’ tall and growing teen 😂

@@ShannonTalksYarn right?! It does seem like I work for them but nope.. I’d work on it in the evenings after dinner in the living room and my teen would walk by “I believe in you Mom” 😂.. Made me want to take longer lol .. ya, I honestly had no idea it would be so heavy but it’s like a weighted blanket and he says he has been sleeping better since he started to use it so, that is a win. .. but ya, 40 skeins 🤦‍♀… all from Walmart as they were the most affordable. I think that is a one and only blanket for sure ha ha

I think we all do have problems going thru our yarn we have in our stash.😊 I'm trying to use my red heart yarn. Have you counted your ball bands at the end of the month? I have. It's awesome to see how much yarn you actually use in a month. I have tried to keep track of my usage for a year. So far I have used 40 in January and 70 in February. It doesn't count the yarn l use that doesn't have a ball band. I have been using some yarn l had from blankets l have taken apart. Those don't have bands so l don't keep track of it. I just use it as soon as I can. Some months l won't have a record of the yarn if l got it with out a label .
