A tip for all wordle players: When you've guessed a letter in the correct spot, start choosing words that DON'T have that letter in that spot, you already know it's there, the more letters you try, the more you know. For example, when they had _ O W They kept choosing words ending in -OW instead of trying to figure out what the first letter was by choosing other words like rot or son that could give them more clues.

it’s funny because the official hard mode for wordle is that you always have to use the yellow and green letters that you find in every subsequent guess, which they were doing

The reason you keep losing these games is because once you have a few letters you start going straight for the answer, which can work in the higher letter words, but in something like the 3 letter word where there are so many different options such as ran, rat, ray, rap, (just for ra_), it is way better to use words that find the letters (in the case of ra_, you could do pay to get 2 options, p and y, in 1 guess, rather than guessing ray and then rap). Although this can sometimes lead to correct answers later, getting the answer is still better than not.
