(See my book recommendations below!)
Word Stress in English can be challenging for English learners who are trying to improve their speaking skills. Luckily for you, I've got a few VERY USEFUL tips to help you pronounce some common nouns and verbs correctly. No more mistakes!
If you don't know how to pronounce multi-syllable words in English, you'll find this lesson extremely useful!
(HINT: As a GENERAL rule, most two syllable English NOUNS are stressed on the first syllable! And most two syllable English VERBS are stressed on the second syllable!)
My video lessons are created to help English learners to improve their pronunciation and speaking skills. Please note that the pronunciation of some of these words differs between English accents. I speak with an Australian English accent 🙂

You and your lessons deserve countless likes. These simple rules worth more than gold. The difference between them is very little but it increases the vocabulary just by a stress.
Hard to focus and concentrate on the lessons when your face is too cute to look at. Thanks Emma. 💜
With this lesson, I can increase my English pronunciation very well again. For these increases, since I discovered mmmEnglish about two years ago I have to say many thanks to you
It is one of the most important lessons. Non native speakers of English find stress so difficult especially Arab learners, as Arabic is not stressed language. Thank you so much Emma.

When I watch your lessons, my stress is from the beat of my heart. An while it seems unnoticeable, those words do pair in different directions. Lately I have been thinking about running and I will look into audible. Sigh ❤... Thank you so much!

What a captivating lesson ever! I watched this lesson so many times but up to now I've never grown bored of it.... Braaaavo Emma! Here are some examples of the words that have the same rule; ▪They need a big transport to transport all the boxes. ▪Workers will hold a protest this weekend. Or Workers are protesting against high unemployment. Others words are: ●permit ●insult ●impact ●estimate ●excuse ●contrast Thank you once again....keep up the good work! I am really learning a lot from you!

I was curious if American and Australian English are similar in terms of word stress, and it seems like yes! I was surprised though that there is as much reduction to schwa - in my mind, Australian English is less reduced. Great video:)
I've been always wondering about the importance of "stressing words" and here is the answer... I've never thought that they are really useful and we need them this way... I'm asking you to make another lesson like this one with different words especially adj... Thank you😌😍❤

Very useful; as usual. You are the best! Thank you.
We absolutely need more of these! I just found out that the word "download" is pronounced with a different stress if you add a pronoun such as "them". So It would be downLOAD them instead of DOWNload them.
Marvelous! I am very thrilled with this video because I have some problems on identifying the correct stress on a given syllable.
