Today's word of the day is 'presumptuous'. Presumptuous is an adjective.
If you describe someone as presumptuous, it means they are too confident in a way that shows a lack of respect for others. They do things that they have no right to do.
It comes from Latin and Old French and first appeared in English in the mid-14th century.
Some example sentences are:
‘It was a little presumptuous of him to take his father’s car without asking.’
‘Making presumptuous judgments about someone's character without knowing them personally is unfair.’
‘It's presumptuous to believe that everyone shares the same beliefs and values as oneself.’
