Some of the lyrics were taken from other Woody Guthrie songs, for example, “they say America First, but they mean America’s next” is from the song “Lindbergh”. A song about a certain famous pilot who was a Nazi supporter during WWII. Funny how our history books skip over that part of Lindbergh’s story.

I have heard most all of Woodys music for nearly 70 years, I have never heard Woody so energized singing anything else. this is was my absolute favorite of his. New Students do a stand up version-other favorites are Billy Braggs blokes version and Clifton Hicks
