Hi I'm Carl Jacobson from the Woodshoptv, I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together.

Are you going to do a video review of the Thompson tools? Thank you so much Carl for another amazing video. Your tool work was simply superb. I've only turned a few green pieces of wood and I think the thinner the better. If you leave it too thick you end up with different aspects of the wood which try to compete with each other as to which will dry out the quickest and you end up with shakes and cracks. Best wishes, Alan.

This was the first video showing a bowl turned as spindle turning projects. Thank you! ❤ I have wondered why need to split and turn cross grain for bowl blanks, and you proved that is not necessary. Of course does not work with all kinds of wood, but wood that is consistent (i.e., the outer and the center fibers not vary in density and hardness) and relatively dense should work. Any further insight on turning bowls that way, as spindle turning, you actually did not discuss that major design choice in the video?

Great video. If you look closely against a dark background you can actually see the water flying off the wood. Wish i knew the tid bit about turning a green bowl thin a month ago. I literally turned two oak logs into 24 rough turned bowls about 1.25 inches thick. I'm letting them dry in paper bags through the winter.

I was surprised that you continued to take it down all the way to finished size. As I'm sure you expected that it was going to warp with drying so quick, glad it didn't develop any cracks. How did you store the green bowl when you had finished? Was it left out totally to dry or did you do anything to try and slow it a bit?
