In this video, I show and highlight my experiences turning some thermally modified ash I got at Wood From the Hood in Minneapolis, MN. If you are not aware of them, they salvage trees being cut down around the Twin Cities area, mill them into lumber, create various home goods and sell everything with the zip code of the original location attached. They have a large variety of domestic lumber, slabs, cookies, and even burls! I created a 20" handle for a homemade scraper lathe tool & a small wooden platter.
