Woodturning - The MASSIVE Oak Burl Stabilization and Casting
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this woodturning video, I begin the process of working on a punky Oak Burl by stabilizing it and then casting it in resin as a preparation for turning. I got the burl from @rusticriverwoodworks4158 a while back, so looking forward to turning it!
Stabilized with SOS 3.0 from @shedlife1783 .

Hello Daniel, that is a nice piece of casting that you made. You say that you wait until the epoxy reaches a temperature of 90 /95 degrees, is that Fahrenheit or Celsius? I usually wait until the epoxy is about 80 degrees Celsius before I start to pour.

Thanks, Hans! The temperature that I wait for is in Fahrenheit, mainly because of the working time of the resin. This resin has about a 12-15 minute working window, so 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit is around the 10-11 minute mark.
Beautiful colors! Reminds me of Van Gogh's Starry Night! Are you going to make something from this?

It's like the St. Patrick's day piece, or the other elm burl. It's hollow inside with a smaller opening (like a vase).
