The only reason I watched this was to see how you would make the Knight. The way you made the Knight is the best one I've seen so far. It was simple (no carving), elegant (it matched the other pieces very well) and easily recognizable as a Knight. Some other turned Knights I've seen on KZread were hardly recognizable as Knights. WELL DONE!

Fantastic, thank you. The designs are wonderful, so simple and appealing (as a keen chess player who wood turns, this was a delight to find). The execution is amazing I can imagine doing them all the same is extremely challenging. The designs also emphasize the grain of the wood beautifully.

I feel like a chess set is to a woodturner what a peacock is to a stained glass artist. Ya gotta do one....ok, well, I actually have peafowl, and they are as beautiful as you would expect, so I'm sure I'll do numerous peafowl projects, but I'm special like that. I like these. They're minimalist in an Art Deco kind of way.

I started to turn a chess set awhile ago, but never finished it all the pieces. I made the knights by drawing the side, front and back profiles on a block of wood, then sawed it out twice with a scroll saw, taping the pieces back together after the first cut and rotating the piece 90 degrees before the second cut. I turned the base and glued the horse head on top. I cut the slits for the rook and the bishop's hat with a coping saw.
