Woodturning the Amber Pinecone Lamp - Fiery Dragon Egg
Ойын-сауық
#resinart #pinecone #woodturning
In this video I show how I made a decorative lamp from resin and a pine cone. It came out sort of Game of Thrones Dragon Egg style.
The resin I used was Opticast 2000 polyurethane resin from MBFG in Belfast.

Jim, I love the work and thank you for naming/labeling each tool used as they're being used. Too many turning videos out there that are completely silent time lapses with no explanation over what is happening despite how nice the finished product might be. From one craftsman to another this is very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more of your work now that I'm subscribed. Cheers.

What a lovely lamp, Jim! It was hard enough to do precision lathe turning, but you added that artistic touch of color and made the whole bulb fitting as well! Not easy to find, let alone create the socket structure below. You are a master craftsman of all trades. I would start with the bulb assembly kit first then adapt my project to it. Not as creative as you! 😍😍 Oh, and the video was excellent. Thanks for clear audio, visuals, and NO MUSIC!!!💖

Jim Overton - Jimson's Stuff Impressive to see you answering in Russian (guessing ...) even if you did use a translation app!
@mcshawnboy
4 жыл бұрын
@@JillofAllTrades2 Is there an easy way to translate Russian on-the-fly while watching their videos? So many brilliant craft people, but sadly I don't speak their language! I definitely like how he says "Garage" more than a Canadian channel I love called Curiosity Inc of an antique store in Edmonton he has said it the common way of the region and it has such a hard sound to it! I've been doing woodworking since a boy and built houses & highways and lots of fun stuff in between. A friend of a long time reminded me of building a traditional coffin with the ends square and tapered sides at the farm I worked on. A friend who was older did Revolutionary War reenactments near the US bicentennial in 1996. I also did a wooden canteen with a paraffin wax lining. Your doing a fine job of recycling! Magnificent job of your pine cone and how you fixed the diffused light upon the first hollowing. Very nice of you to mention the tools of which you're using that those watching can take a crack at it. I've given you what I call The KZread Trifecta of Like Subscribe and Ring The Bell as well as a share to a friend in Pennsylvania, USA where I have numerous friends. We both went to a full Persian Chainmaille Weave class at the Patuxent Lapidary Guild in Annapolis, Maryland. It's a jewelry guild and mostly what I do for fun after being injury as truck driver, I think lorry to you. He does some pen lathe projects and has recently got into resin to supplement his meager retirement check. I'm sure he will love it as he is also a minister to the homeless so supplies might be easier to get. Thanks for your video and your child was cute to help her Dad 💕 I'd suggest looking up a car detailing shop in New York City channel called NYC/Ammo I believe it is. He gave a message at the beginning of one of their videos that said, "If you like anything that ANY KZread creator makes, Like Subscribe and Ring The Bell and Share as it helps them massively and keep checking that you have not been "Unsubscribed" as there's some trickery afoot with the algorithm!
