Woodturning| Texture and Paint on an Ash Bowl
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
After having been inspired by work from @stewartfurini and @WaynetheWoodturner I have decided to have my first go at texture on an Ash bowl from an 8x2" Ash blank.
As I started using my @DremelUK tool to texture the bowl, I was thinking that this could go wrong and I was not sure about it till I had applied the final finish. The spindle lock on my @RecordPowerTV Coronet Herald came in very handy during the texturing phase and gave me a significantly great deal more control compared to my old lathe.
Products used:
@ChestnutProducts (chestnutproducts.co.uk/) Cellulose sanding sealer, ebonising lacquer, acrylic gloss lacquer and Microcrystalline wax
Yorkshire grit (yorkshire-grit.com/) Original and Microfine
Jo Sonja (www.josonjas-ukshop.co.uk/) Iridescent paints

No worries about not making the premiere. It's not at a time that suits everyone, just a time that I know I should be free. Thank you for watching and commenting. This was a a lot of fun to make, though o was not always sure how well the end product was going to look. Have to say I surprised myself.

great work love the shape can i suggest you try using frog tape its great for the lines and how are you finding the herald
@JiggsysShed
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Roy. I do have frog tape somewhere, just got to find it again. Though it was not that which caused the issue with the lines. It would have been fine if the dremel did not slip. Though, with what I have on the lathe at the moment, the frog tape may have been the better bet. Thanks for the tip. Am loving the herald. Definitely the right choice of upgrade from what I had.
Really enjoyed it. Where can I get that dremel carving bit?
@JiggsysShed
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I bought mine on Amazon. It is the Dremel Accessory 9936 Tungsten Carbide Cutter Wheel - 19 mm
It really looked like you were messing up a good piece of wood, John. Never stop surprising me with the results. Looks like that new lathe is doing well, too?

New lathe is great and a lot of fun to use. I did have that worry as I started the texturing and I was not sure about it till the finish was applied.
