Woodturning - Rooty Firewood to Beautiful Vase
In this woodturning video I will transform a firewood tree root into and beautiful looking hybrid vase. This fully air-dried root has some much character but certainly needed an artistic eye to rescue from fire and give another chance to live longer. With the help of some epoxy resin I was able to turn this project around and make something very modern and decorative piece.

If the value of craftsmanship is measured by turning something that has no value into a beautiful piece of art, this project deserves 10/10.

@gooHero I don’t get your post. Meaningless? The guy just showed us you can make a vase from one of the most difficult and often discarded pieces of a tree. In a world that is going to the crapper due to greedy and ignorant people tearing down trees and eating up our natural reassures, for a guy to be able to make a container out of something they aren’t normally made of, deserves praise.
The colours give me ancient Greek pottery vibes. Amazing work.

What I love most of all is that you take a discarded piece of wood, not really fit for anything except burning, and turn it into an heirloom quality piece which will handed down through the generations. Hundreds of years from now people will still be enjoying your craftmanship.

This is what I appreciate about the Internet; I'm a minimalist, don't like to own lots of "stuff," but I do enjoy looking at things. Beautiful items, such as this wonderfully done vase, are a real joy---and seeing it doesn't take up one atom of space in my home, and nobody can destroy it (hate going to museums because of so many undisciplined cretins visiting them anymore). I can come back to this video as many times as I want, and then move on to the next video of beautiful things. That is excellent work, sir, simply exquisite!

Until in the future when some young person with no taste or eye for value and beauty is cleaning out their recently passed great grandma's house and thinks it's ugly and just tosses it into the dumpster in the driveway. Yeah. True story. It was a hand-blown glass vase. Fortunately, I was the neighbor who noticed and was allowed to retrieve it. I gave it to one of her great nieces with whom we are acquainted. This is wooden vase is a gorgeous piece of work. He has an eye for hidden beauty like a sculptor.
Incredible craftmanship! This video was not only fascinating to watch but very soothing as well.
I wondered how you were going to turn that gnarly piece of wood into a vase. Well done. I use to be a lathe operator so I appreciate the skill involved. It was my favorite job because of the problem solving involved. A wood lathe would be a fantastic hobby for my retirement years but apartment building owners tend to frown on excessive use of shop equiptment. (Don't ask me how I know) lol

That circular jig is a work of art, what a genius device. I’ve blown out many pieces of burl before, but with the resins & a jig like that, I might have better luck. That’s a beautiful process, & an even more impressive finish.
Even though the concept is different, this puts me in mind of my rock tumbler. My rocks start off rough and dull, but afterwards they come out smooth and shiny!
Knowing that a video like this got more than 6 millions views in less than 2 months makes me feel hope on humanity again. No catchy songs, no memes, no hate, no "regular" entertainment. no baits. Only pure art and gold to see.
