    This just popped up out of nowhere. Don't know where it was hiding but it was welcome. Someone else did about this same thing recently. It's an interesting and easy way to do off center turning. Thank you for sharing.🙂🙂

    Wow! Carl your video's are always an inspiration for me...Lot's of great ideas and makes me want to try something new and different! As a newbie, you and your videos have been a great help in answering sooo many of my new woodturning questions... Love the idea of the 'off center holder' for your little medallion...will now have to give it a try. Again, thanks and safe turning to you!

    Hi Carl! Thanks for the different camera angles. Now you can see tools and work very well. A nice tip for eccentric center. It became a decorating, but it could just as well have been a beautiful natural cleat for a knitted sweater.

    You mentioned it in your sharpening video, that spindle gouge is getting down there. What if anything are you going to do with it once it gets to be unusable?

    Just FYI, the audio-video sync is a off in several places for me. Interesting method of turning it off-center - never seen it before, but it seems to work well. Two questions: What orientation is the grain running in the pendant? Given how tightly it fit (which would be required using this method), are there any problems with it splitting or marring when removing it with the knockout bar?

  • @CarlJacobson

    This is end grain i didn't have any problems with it.

    No need to remove the headstock to put on a 4 jaw chuck Jarhead, simply turn the chuck onto the threads where your center would be going at. Make sure htat you have the correct adapter (3/4 or 1") depending on the type of lathe you have or the type of chuck you have. Most lathes come with an adapter anyway.

  • @CarlJacobson
    @CarlJacobson11 жыл бұрын

    The 4 jaw chuck just screws on the head stock.

    Hi Carl have watched quite a few of your videos, how do you like your new lathe. I am now on my third lathe. I started turning about 13 years ago. I like your projects and the way you show the mistakes as well, it is how we improve by making mistakes. But if you don't try then you will never get better. daviep UK.

    Hi Carl, Another really handy video, thank you for sharing as I will explain... I'm intrigued to say the least. I've been trying for weeks to make my wife a nice pendant, but the only thing I've been able to manage is round finished pieces of different tropical wood still hot glued to sacrificial blocks of wood and she refuses to wear them! lol. If I scale your version down would I still be able to do it with my 2 inch chuck? Plus could you please advise me how to get the pieces off when using Hot Glue? I've tried the metholated spirits I think you call it Denatured Alcohol! But it won't touch it!!! I also tried heating the glue back up in the microwave oven but the olive wood cracked so I haven't tried that again! I think that I could have applied to much of the hot glue! better to be safe than sorry didn't work this time lol. Please accept my apologies for pestering you with what could be stupid and obvious question's to answer. Cheers Andy

    Hi Carl, Thanks for replying it's really appreciated. Oh I think that would be a lot easier! I was just watching another video of yours with the off center jig when I heard this reply come through! Spooky lol. On that video you used the pillar drill to obtain the off center holes and showed this jig again with the two jaws taken out of the chuck, and no glue or tape! Can't thank you enough for all the help and advice. Take care my friend. Cheers Andy

    Really neat video. Thanks for sharing all of this amazing work that you do! Also, I saw that someone said it was out of focus a lot and hard to watch. That isn't true at all. That person obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. The only reason I can think of for them thinking it was out of focus is that the wood looks that way when it's spinning... Out of focus stuff makes me feel sick, so I would have noticed.
