In this video I show how I made a bottle opener from some Black Palm and Stainless Steel hardware. This is a great project for all woodturners beginner to advanced. Feel free to substitute the wood to whatever you like, as long as its black palm. All other woods suck. Black Palm can be tricky to work with. Not tricky in a magical sense. More like tricky in the nasty, splintery, wild animal wants to bite you sense. Maybe it missed its morning coffee? Hey, I can't say I really blame it. If I was chilling out in the tropics and someone cut me down and sent me to Pennsylvania, I'd be miserable too. It's just a nasty splintery wood that doesn't like to be turned. I bet if I gave it some scotch it would relax a bit. It seems to work for me.
My CA finish is a bit different than most. I used to do it like everyone else but I was getting bored. I decided to try something new. After gluing my hand to the blank about a dozen times I learned how NOT to do it. So now I use the method in the video. It seems to work well for me. If you try my method for CA finish and like it, remember, it is a forbidden method so do so at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any crazy stuff you do in your shop. CA glue is dangerous. I hear it's a necessary component of time travel but I think that's just a rumor. Feel free to experiment to find what works best for your particular project/style. If you get zapped into another dimension don't say I didn't warn you
