Woodturning a Beautiful Mystery Burl Wood with Epoxy

In this woodworking video I take a piece of Spiky Burl Wood and combine it with some black epoxy. I then but it on a wood lathe and do some woodturning to create a piece of beautiful art.

I think she was trying to get something other than black...alcohol inks normally are transparent.

Cricky Vicky Woohoo that's amazing works of art you should be proud of yourself,👏👏👏 I have known to wrong alot of the time,but I am all most Shaw that's a mallie burl just by looking at very tight grain pattern and the colours. That’s a burl, a very desirable piece of wood that grows on the trunk of a tree. The voids are part of the beauty. Because of the nature of a burl it can be difficult to identify what sort of wood it is. You made a great job of it and it looks fab.

I can’t say what wood that is, but I don’t think that’s a root ball. Looks to me like you got yourself a nice little burl. It looks great.

Yes I do use a pressure pot. Sometimes I use a vacuum chamber, but most of the time I use my pressure pot.

Other senses often signify mystery woods...does it smell like anything? It's not spiky wood?

It is funny you say that I do remember a smell that was reminiscent of something but could never put my finger on it. When I turn the other piece that I have I will have to pay more attention. Yes it was very spiky all over once I removed the bark. Thanks for your watching, comments and suggestions.
