Woodland Caribou | Hunting in Newfoundland | S1 | E31 | Alpine Carnivore 4K

Ойын-сауық

This week, Mitch and Cheeze leave British Columbia and take you hunting in Newfoundland for Woodland Caribou and Eastern moose. The weather is wet and windy, the Caribou are plentiful, and the hunting grounds are barren and isolated deep in the interior of the island.

Nice bull! Mmm.... Caribou.... I've never eaten Woodland Caribou, but have eaten Barren Ground Caribou in the Northwest Territories a number of times over the years, and it was always beautiful meat - not gamey, always mild, and very lean. I'll bet the grouse were tasty too.

  • @AlpineCarnivore

Thank you! I would have to agree with your caribou meat is very tasty, no wild game taste to this woodland caribou either. Can't go wrong with grouse either.

Great hunt, love ya editing, beautiful country but two things maybe three you need to change, here in NL we have Eastern Canada moose, not Shiras moose. Secondly, you need to cover that NOISY Sitka gear with some old fashion fleece, (you can have the best guide in the world but that noisy clothes may ruin a chance of a lifetime), and thirdly ................well I guess I will leave it alone, somethings you have to learn on ya own! Great show!!

I have always loved the way Woodland Caribou look. Rich chocolate antlers. I heard that they can weigh up to 200 kilo's. Is that right? That would be around 400 pounds. I want to go to Newfoundland when I win the loto.

  • @AlpineCarnivore

Hey Melvin, I believe the average size is 300-350 lbs 400 may be possible but that would be a real tank.
