In the glorious days, till we lost our ways, Hey, do you recall when the war was just a game? Now the wind ventures to other plains, Hey, when will I see you again if I go? This train whistles and blows all sounds away, Hey, how could we be close again? Now the night is bathing in disgrace, Hey, do you still braid some flowers in your hair, Come the sound of boots and metal chains, Hey, will the perfume of the daisies remain? A circus of horses is dancing in the bay, Hey, now the fire's in the way The past is sucked by quicksands I'm afraid, Hey, do you recall when the war was just a game?

Was looking up a Gregorian chant named Stabat Mater, the chant about Maria, when this popped up. Funny how he uses such 'smart' and less obvious titles for his songs. Makes it that much more interesting. Woodkid is one of my favorite artists of today and he keeps on amazing me. (Saw him live last year and nearly died of happiness).

I discover a little late this artist, he never went on the radio (unlike other artists with little talent that pollute radios), enjoy the classic wedding / electro, the melodies are beautiful and chiseled texts. He deserves better publicity. His clips are beautiful, faithful to each other and reflect the artist

What I imagine is something like this: Two men stand facing each other on a battlefield filled with carnage. One wears a bright shining military uniform, the other wears ragged armor marked by a small insignia, the mark of a rebel. They stare at each other, almost not noticing the bloodshed around them. Their faces are cold and reveal nothing, but their eyes betray them. A small glow of familiarity can be seen in them, accompanied by the sorrow of knowing this had been much brighter before. Suddenly, as if by some unspoken agreement, both draw their blades and charge. No words are spoken, only the sound of clashing weapons rings out in this silent hell. Finally after what seems like an eternity, the two clash one final time. Who won? It doesn't matter in the end, they both lost what was most precious to them in the end: a dear friend.

why does this sound like something you would hear in a dramatic cinematic trailer for Battlefield 1? I can see it now...like when it talks about the train whistle blowing all sound away, I imagine the armored train just firing a barrage. Then when it talks about the horses dancing at the bay, it cuts to a scene of a calvary riding into battle on horseback. Then when it says about fire being in the way, it cuts to a scene where a flamethrower just burning down a forest

I believe Woodkid is mainstream. Some years back he was not, but now he's a renowned artist I guess, at least in his homeland (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoann_Lemoine) (look at the charts and all the awards and performances in official festivals and soundtracks for videogames). That does not make him a worse or better artist for that. Fans often seem to believe that their favorite artists are not mainstream, because they started to like them when they were not. But things do change and sometimes their favorite artists get the fame they deserve.

Dragonforce has this weird thing of putting a lot of "FAR AWAY" in their songs, and woodkid seems to have a fetish on "Lost" things.
