Great idea kev, Being a old roofer I can say that flashing is for a plumbing pipe comming out of the roof, maybe people can find it in the plumbing section :)

Absolutely, I think that's where I got it from too Jordy in the plumbing section. I think this one it's for bathroom vent.

Kevin, thank you so much for showing us your simple, compact dust collector. It resolved many of the questions I had on how you constructed it, when I watched your three-part series. (I was confused initially about the single row of holes you drilled running across the entire border forming the large rectangle with rounded corners. Now I know they had no real purpose except delineating the square carving area.) I also thought you had a removable panel opening from the top of your carving board. Later I realized it was only a pencil line and not a joint in the board. I see from the many comments regarding this video, that you have inspired many of your viewers (including me), to construct this simple carving board / dust extractor. Thanks you again and best wishes.

Thanks Jay, yeah it was going to be much more holes and i stopped and just made them in the middle. I was also going to put the flashing on that side so i t raced around it but decided to put it on the other side hence the trace marks lol

@@stixandstonescarving Kevin, I'm not an engineer, but I think if you have too many additional holes, the suction may be reduced. Although, If you do add more holes, you could always cover them with masking tape if the additional holes don't work as effectively with dust extraction. What are the dimensions of the extraction holes in the middle.? Is it about 8 inch or 9 in square? I'd like to know the dimensions you used. Thanks again.
