The low amount of arch support seems perfect for flat footed people like me

This pair is at the two year mark now and I still wear them at least two or three times a week. They've been ridiculously tough.

Thanks for the vid, I got a pair of Woobirs on the way. Have some Altamas and totally agree on the insole gripping your socks, I gotta almost unlace them to put on or they pull my socks super tight on toes and heel ends up near ankle

This pair of Woobies is going on 2 years old now, and I still wear them several times a week. The canvas looks a little rough, but the soles and insoles are still fresh.

100% with you on the Altamas. I kinda hate putting them on, but once they're on they're definitely my second favorite shoe. Ditched the insoles because my ADD has me wiggling my toes and I destroyed them in like 4 months. The pulls strap on the back didn't feel super solid, maybe a low top will be more durable by use case. I can't wear a traditional Converse shoe but the Altamas just worked. So I'll be giving the Woobies a shot in the near future.

@@SapperGentleman the Altima ODB inse looks really thick. I want as close.to zero drop/barefoot feel as much as possible as well as a durable, cool/quick drying shoe. Really curious how they are on slick floors whether a wet & greasy commercial kitchen or icey Winter conditions which Houston doesn't have much of.

Thanks for the indepth review! Very informative- I have a pair of Altamas, and like them. I realize they're boat shoes and designed for flippered frogmen or whatever, but I wore them regularly, hiking, gym, on the street, photographing etc. I've had them for a few years, and figured I'd share some observations and spots of wear that I experienced. The thinner (venting?) fabric material stitched into either side of the "dip" design in the rubber sole is deteriorating. Stitching on the sole broke in a spot, so I burned it down to a little plastic nub so it wouldn't unthread. I also had to replace the tacky insole which pretty much prevented wearing socks. Didn't like the laces much although they held up fine. Also as a non stinky foot guy, after a month shooting a documentary in the Amazon Jungle they did start to stink, but that's the jungle... I still rate the Altama's highly. After the wear I put them through, an equivalent pair of Chuck T's or sports sneakers (aside from Pumas) would've been in tatters. I will be trying out and buying some Woobies with confidence after your review. Thanks again!

This pair is at about 2.5 years now, and I'm still beating on them. The soles look practically new, too.

Glad they're working for you! If the Altamas were low top, would there be a significant difference in your opinion? Even the minimal arch support increase sounds like it would be worth it for my feet, and Altama has multiple styles of lowtops, but curious if you had any other drawbacks besides the mid length.

How would the mod-1's be for weightlifting (mainly squats & deads & farmers carries) compared to Converse Chuck Taylor AllStars or other flat trainers ?

If I had to go downrange in one I'd choose the Altamas. They wear more like a boot; thicker sole, thicker insole. For a "lifestyle" shoe I much prefer the Woobies; more comfortable, lighter weight, more flexible.

@@SapperGentleman I live in Idaho. 100°+ summers and below zero winters (not that I would wear them in the snow). I go to the mountains and cut my own firewood, work on my own vehicles, build anything needed out of wood and metal. I need something besides my Danners that can take the abuse and mileage. Thoughts?

You may want to try out Xero shoes. I liked the fact that the Altimas were basically zero drop, I found them way more comfy than all my other boots, so I decided to give actual barefoot style shoes a try, and I'm really digging my Xeros so far, granted it's only been a few months, so who knows how well they'll hold up long term

I am familiar with Xero shoes & as a barefoot, DIY Vibram tire sandal guy I want a zero drop & even my boots are the slave I mean Chinese made Tactical Research (Belleville) Min Mil (2nd pair 1st were sage which were nubuck & had side drainage/breath vents, 2nd are dressier black I like the look of the black better but for the vents and nubuck were cooler, dried quicker & I wore them.year around doing construction in Omaha, NE paired with good wool socks in cold & wet weather). The Zero shoes main issue for me is they look like light weight material vs a sturdier Cordura or canvas with the ODB OR woobie. I need something that will hold up as well as offer decent traction on slick.or icey surfaces. Any experience with them in those conditions?
