I think Joys acting is GREAT in this, and for ONCE in a drama these scenes are - really - realistic. You don't always cry and wail and stomp your feet when you're heartbroken like girls do in older dramas. You have to be strong when you're betrayed like this. You have to save face, and tell them to eat shit, basically, like she did. I think it was beautiful and I have no idea why so many people shit on her. So far this drama is beautiful to me. But maybe not everybody has been through something similar, or maybe the people saying that are younger, or who knows. But I love this.

Joy was more broken and angry, that dominated her feelings at the point so she didn't cry or seem desperate. It doesn't even fit her characters personality well if she did. She did beautiful here.

Honestly some people would be in more of a shock whilst feeling the anger just dominate them in the moment, and then cry later. Tae Hee’s personality is very much portrayed beautifully in this scene, she did an incredible job.

her character was a strong and mature character so she wouldnt let herself cry in front of those who made her suffer or sumn

a lot of people say joy didnt show any emotion in this scene but i dont think the same?.. i mean it has to do with tae hees character. shes very strong willed and a bit prideful. tae hee is strong and cold during confrontations but weak inside, when shes alone. like even the scene where si hyun made her uncomfortable and treated her terribly in front of everyone, she was strong. but only after she left she really started crying. do hwans a good actor ofc but im just saying joys acting is honestly appropriate for this. she did fine imo

Everybody is saying that her acting wasn't so great in this scene, because she wasn't crying, or falling apart when breaking up with him. Well, I disagree because this scene was made to show that she is becoming stronger, and her yelling at him, telling him that she doesn't need him and that they were done. She wasn't supposed to show much emotion in this scene because if she cried it would show him that she was weak, but she wasn't so she didn't cry, rather she watched him cry. So, I think she did a great job!

I'm honestly shocked that people seem to have completely overlooked one of the primary aspects of acting: understanding your character's motivation. In this scene Taehee's main motivation is to not allow SiHyun to affect her again. She doesn't want him to see how heartbroken she is. She doesn't want him to know that they've been able to hurt her with their games. She wants to appear strong. And so we see later in the episode that Taehee breaks down alone, finally allowing herself to feel. Joy wasn't meant to convey the same outward emotions as Sihyun. Sihyun is trying to make Taehee stay, Taehee is trying to leave. Both are real emotions. This isn't to say that Joy can't improve, but to say that her emotions are fake when one of her strengths is how natural her acting is just shows that some people are going to try and criticize Joy for any reason and that's really sad to me.

Am I the only one who thought Joy did well? Given Tae Hee's personality, she wouldn't overreact or outright cry while trying to break up with him. I think she did well in adapting to this role tbh, it would've been weird if she started screaming at him because it wouldn't fit the character. I think we're all so used to seeing scenes like this where the actors in the scenes make it very overblown so we all think that she's bland in acting but meh to each their own. In all honesty, I would hope that this scene should be more emotional as well but I don't think that's Joys fault but perhaps how the writers and directors made it (sort of understated but deep as you go through it again-not bad, just different)

In my opinion I found that Joy portrayed this scene the exact way I would've done if I found out if the guy I liked did so much shit to me. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry and break down in front of him, I would keep my head high show him I don't give a shot then go home cry and eat tons of ice cream. Plus I think people are too hard on joy, so what if she does acting it's her choice because that's what she likes, and I honestly think her acting in this drama was fairly good. Joy portrayed Eun tae her's character good as eun tae hee is a strong willed girl who doesn't take shit. She's kind and loving to people she trust but a cold person to people who she doesn't trust and you could clearly see that when she was cold towards SI hyun unlike all the other times she was sweet and understanding. Stop hating on her acting people, she's a rookie in acting but as she acts in more dramas she'll improve and I really can't see no one else fitting the roll of eun tae hee other than joy. But she really needs a lot of improvement but she'll get there. I hope:)

Yep Tae Hee is a stronger character than Madame de Tourvel and Si Hyun is kinder than Vicomte de Valmont, so it's only natural that their progress different from the original Dangerous Liaisons.

Same here. If personally I was in situation of the character of Tae Hee I would react same way. My own personality is just like hers so I can understand. I'm always cautious when interacting with new people. I can sweet for people I love but cold towards those I don't know. As someone who has already had many bad experience in life, this discovery wouldn't break me that the guy I finally started to like was only using me for a bet. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me broken. I'll just say him he shouldn't be the one to bow his head in guilt not me and that one day he feels the same pain as I did. But I know after coming home I'll cry but it'll be alright. Joy really did a fabulous job at portraying Tae Hee's character. I don't understand why people hate on her character. It's so relatable and heartbreaking character. Imagine being a victim of a bet of 3 brats and still getting all the blame? I agree Joy's acting needs to improve at many points but it's still good for a beginner.

She is really good. I really like her acting cause she seems so into her character that is so strong and indipendent. I respect this woman💪🏻

Obv people who expected this scene to be filled with a lot of yelling and punching were having too much of unrealistic break up scenes.

This scene was breaking my heart, bc I could feel the betrayal in Tae’s voice and also when Woo do hwan was like “Tae hee, please” and his voice cracked I was like crying my eyes out like they portrayed their characters emotions so amazingly.

The satisfaction i got from this scene after all these games they played on her.

i have gone through the same thing as TaeHee and honestly I didn’t show so much devastation at the front of the guy, only when I was on my own. I showed hatred, but very minimal tears...I wouldn’t let the guy see how much what he and his friends did affect me. I didn’t let them have that satisfaction...esp in TaeHee’s case: she heard what it was for the three- that should have hurt her pride so much, too. Her pride would not let them see how emotionally weak she has become upon knowing that the man she love didn’t have the best intention and her love was not reciprocated the way she thought. This might be the same reason that the director is relaying to us, the same reasoning that the director is coming from. I don’t really know...what I know is that most strong willed people wouldn’t let others see them in their lowest, most shattered point.

Some of the negative comments here don’t actually reflect the reality of how this drama was received. Tempted/Great Seducer was criticised in Korea for its poor script, plot, and directing, but Joy actually had multiple articles praising her acting and saying that she did the best she could with the material she was given. Internationally the drama was one of the most watched and a lot of people who watched it said they did so because of Joy. In that way, Joy was certainly a factor in saving this drama from its low domestic ratings. I think Joy had a particularly difficult role, and it’s a shame that when a kdrama has issues all too often the male lead gets praised and protected and there’s a pile-on culture towards the female lead. For example, the comments about Joy not being able to express emotion seem to overlook the reality of the character she was portraying and who Taehee was (and the situation she was in), and ignore the many other scenes where Joy delivered an honest emotional performance. The first break up scene in this drama was so well acted by Joy and emotionally expressive that I just don't understand how anyone could think that she can't act. I look forward to seeing Park Sooyoung in more acting roles in the future, and for her to keep improving. Joy always seems like someone who acknowledges she still has a lot to learn and keeps working hard. She should be proud of that.

This was the first kdrama i saw and i completely fell in love with Tae Hee. I honestly can't understand all these comments talking about Joy's acting skills but the only thing i have to say is that i'm thankful of Joy because she gave Tae Hee her life. In this case, her acting couldn't be better. Of course she has to practice more to become a better actress but everybody has to practice more to become better. I loved this show 11/10 - Also,this was the first drama that i loved the ending scene. It was how it should be. I forgot to say that Woo Do Hwan ,Moon Ga Young and Kim Min Jae are the love of my life i mean just look at them they are super good and cute.What can i say about Park soo young? She amazes me everyday and Tae Hee couldn't have a better actress to portray her ♥

Am I the only one who thinks that Joy portrayed this character quite good like yea, obv she cried her heart out before and when she meets him the only emotion she would have is anger and like betrayal. Its hard to portray those emotions but I think Joy did pretty well, tae hee’s character is usually very strong so after she cries I would expect that she would be cold to the cause of that emotion. Overall, personally I think Joy did well🤷‍♀️

Why the heck is this show sooo underrated its one of my favourite kdramas of all time its different and not all lovey dovey like the others also the actor is sooo convincing i cried with him

She did such a great job here. She was so shocked/numb that she didn't break down. However, the tears kept streaming down her face while she talked. You can actually feel the shock and betrayal through her acting. She chose to not be a victim to their schemes anymore and be the strong woman they didn't think she was capable of being. I can't understand how people would hate on her acting. I think she did a superb job!

You can see how Joy Park Sooyoung a great actress in this scene. No overacting but you can feel she is angry and at same time love for the man he trusted so much that is great acting. And also do hwan really a great actor.

She portrayed her character PERFECTLY!! All the hurt shown through her eyes while her strength and prides is elaborated through her shaky voice.

I read the comments and I want to add. Yes, Joy in this drama is not your typical female lead, and I actually really liked that. They were unequally rich but she still came from a well off family, unlike the usual poor girl that we would expect in this type of a drama. She dressed nicely and she was a atrong character, in every way. She was also very expressive of her love towards woo do hwan. And she usually didn't cry a lot in front of him and made hard decisions and everything. This drama is so misunderstood idk why this is definitely a very good kdrama with very good acting and story

The character that she is portraying is supposed to be very strong and smart yet at the same time extremely innocent but not naive. Also she's very guarded against love and relationship related matters bc of her family issues. So I really rhink that Park soo young's reaction was on point as the protagonist refuses to show that the trio achieved what they had planned at the beginning and not become a laughing stock, basically she's trying to save the very last bit of pride that she has left after all of this fiasco!!! Seriously congratulations to actress park soo young for her performance

Not everyone shows their true emotions when they get hurt in their faces. Instead you can see tears, an angry and cold face. That's when the heart breaks. Just like joy's in that scene. I think she is a great actor.

As I see it, Joy actually did a very good job. I think this is the type of breakup that'll be very hard to deal with because the lady is too calm. It's the breakup that will make you realize that you've hurt her too much that she's either still processing the extent of pain she's feeling or she just simply turned numb because she's too hurt.

I’ve read some of them. They don’t like the drama in general just because of that. They kept on criticizing Joy even though Joy did a great job. She gave justice to the role she portrayed. I don’t get it why people are so mean to her. Ships might be involve why they don’t want her in the drama and why they’re criticizing her.

it still amazes me how much joy improved from tlahl to tempted and i still think both script werent that good and that she didn't show how far she can go yet... i can't wait for her next drama. i hope one with a good script, a good directin, an amazing cast and a caracther that joy can REALLY shows what she is capable... I would love to see her act as a villain but not a rich and simple villain, but a bad, self-centered, with a superiority complex that allows her to show how good she is!!!!!! omggggggg

There was never a drama like this where I was praying for a tragic ending / the couples parting ways completely..lol 😠
