Wonka Movie Review - I Was Shocked!

Wonka movie review - Willy Wonka is back with a 3rd movie. Once again, starting over with a new actor and storyline. Timothy Chalamet tries on the hat and cane for this new reboot. I was expecting Wonka to be a complete dumpster fire but walked away pleasantly surprised with the final product. A solid family flick with promise of more to come.

When Warner Brothers buries potentially good films like Batgirl, Scoob: Holiday Haunt and Coyote versus ACME just because they probably did not go big enough for Warner to let them pass, it is a minor miracle that they allowed Wonka to come to movie theaters, and I can not be happier that it did because it certainly paid off well for Warner Brothers and any generation of fans of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory who were interested in seeing Wonka. I'm with ya about Tim Burton's film too - the whole time i was like: "What am I watching here!? and omg my god what are these weird CGI Oompa Loompas!?" Then, when the first trailer for this new Wonka movie came out my first reaction was: "Ok not bad but where are the Oompa Loompas?" and then of course lost it at the end when they revealed non other than Hugh Grant and I was ALL IN!!! I can't wait to take the fam to see this! It's been awhile since we've had a decent family movie hit the theaters.

I actually like the Tim Burton one, everything about the story is better, except for the Oompa Loompas obviously. Replace the songs with the original ones and you'd have the best version.

You do not like musicals or super wholesome movies...but I do, and I know we need more of these now. Not every popular Oscar-nominated movie has to be made for adults or teens to watch on their own. It would not be the end of the world to make another lighthearted, whimsical movie with more family elements (musical or not) because I just think more families should go to the movies together as a family without either generation feeling as if they are trapped watching a movie that only the other person enjoys. Families always have been, and still are a lucrative market/audience for selling movie tickets, and profitable movies made for families to watch should not be exclusive to animated films. Why is it so rare to see a live-action G or PG film made for all ages and families, and why are there not more live-action PG family films like Paddington and Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile?

I actually loved it, was a great time and had that signature Paul King feel. Also visually looked really nice. I had the same thoughts about his shop though lol. it truly came out of nowhere, but whatever the shop was beautiful and the song was good too. Also, im actually a huge fan of the Burton Wonka lol. Its so fucking off the wall its great.

This movie is absolutely terrible. The songs aren't fun, the lines are terrible, they make fun of serious social issues and the lead character is not at all entertaining. This movie is not at all as charming or entertaining as the original.

I loved this film so much, I have watched it over and over, whilst watching Gene Wilder in-between. This was the Willy Wonka I imagined when I watched Gene Wilder's, the magic, the wonder and the whimsical innocence. I happened to have liked Tim Burton's film, I approached it from a different view, that anything he does is darker, so took it that way. When you read Roald Dahl's books, there is something dark, so I watch that one regularly too, just don't connect them together as much. So massive fan of the new Wonka, I love the music, the innocence, the sheer joy of the whole thing, and the cast were perfect for me! great review :)

I read the book after I watched the movie with Gene Wilder and I was completely disappointed and rolling my eyes... A perpetual frown upon my face except perhaps for the part with the giraffe which was charming and that song in particular made me cry. But I don't say lightly... I waited until I could afford to rent it and halfway through I still wanted my money back.

Watched with grandchildren aged 10 and 12...surprisingly good. Vibes of Annie but with far more special effects. Great British actors in every other scene, well acted and an interesting back story. Some laughs and a few tears.. 😢 Story was obviously unbelievable but this didn't take anything away from its magic. Two main characters Wonka and Noodle were brilliant. I loved the rehash of a couple of songs from the Gene Wilder movie, as someone who grew up loving that I enjoyed this much more than I expected.

So many on the left wanted to ban Roald Dahl books in schools and the publishing company did edit his books. This is a no go for me because I've feeling this will be heavy handed and Chalamet is a ridiculous person with how he walks around in dresses to prove how he is sooooooo progressive.

It is a great prequel. Adam you are not interesting. You misquote the title of the original movie. You refer to it by the original book name. From that early moment it is hard to trust your opinion. You are entitled to it but you lack the terminology of movies, stage and acting. In fact you refer to act 1 in this. That would require an intermission. I think you need to choose your words more wisely to sound more credible. I think then as someone says here you should have more subscribers, I agree and I think the above would help as it is great to have the general publics feedback, but it does feel like you are trying to make money and popularity in an area that isn't your forte.
