Yes, WB is serious about one last attempt at the belt. And if you're going to hope to get a title fight, with a win, Shavkat is that person, even though he's #6. None at 170 currently, outside of possibly Leon, who is going to beat Shavkat right now. Not Belal, not Burns, and not MAGA man. Shavkat is very hittable. IF, big if but it is an if.... IF GRANDPA WB could stunt Shavkat by repeatedly punching the latter's unmoving head, he has a chance.... a small chance but a chance nonetheless. Unlike Usman, who would do 90% wrestling, the 29 year-old Central Asian Nomad Great Khan would actually want to stand there and go toe to toe against the elite striking Grandpa.

Quite true.... about Shavkat's ability to "slip"... a bit like Strickland, except Shavkat just bob his head rather than using that "shoulder roll" that Sean Strickland would do, like the great boxing Floyd would do. No, Shavkat doesn't need to move his upper body like Iron Mike, Haggler, Pernell Whittaker, or Guillermo Rigondeaux... but if he'd learn to use the shoulders a bit more, like Sean Strickland --- they both have this slow, plodding approach ---- it'd prevent his head from being consistently cleanly punched. Against, lower ranked guys, a gifted & extremely big, tall, and powerful guy like 29 year-old Shavkat could afford to be getting punched a bit... Once you're fighting other elite guys from his position on up to the champ level, getting punched or kicked in the head, due to your lack of movements, could prove catastrophic. @@uk1914

Seems perfect, people think Wonderboy is looking for favorable matchups so he's probably accepting this to prove a point and Shavkat is reliable at making weight, and like you said they might wanna punish Wonderboy for not taking that fight in a pretty mediocre card and might just want to bump him off the rankings to get some movement going.

Wonderboy has no choice but to face grapplers now that he's rank #7. Everyone above him, aside from Leon, is a grappler.

One of the best strikers in UFC history has "no chance" against a relatively untested prosect with no head movement whatsoever who almost got knocked out by Geoff Neal in his last fight. The meatriding Shavkat gets online is so intense it makes me want to root against him so I can stop seeing it so much

I mean... A ko can happen to anyone. Wonderboy got KTFO against pettis, who has no punching power. Geoff Neal hits hard though, and we all know Wonderboy aint knocking anyone out. Shavkat can easily wall through his punches and do whatever the fuck he wants.

He has nothing to lose. he’s a likable guy for sure but he’s a wise guy at this point. beating the Mongolian menace will bring him back into the convo

I think Wonderboy felt his best bet at a title shot is a win over Shavkat or Usman and I can see why he thinks Shavkat may be an easier matchup. But I still see no path to victory

Shavkat is the best welterweight in the ufc

UFC brass not giving him any other fight since he pissed them off for not taking the Pereira fight. Which was honestly a big mistake tbh, it was a gift match-up and he was probably poorly advised by his dad or team to not take the fight and all because he was a few pounds overweight. Crazy decision on they're part, Pereira is an entertainer, he never initiates grappling or clinching.

He’s taking the fight because of what transpired with his last fight. He lost some fans with his decision making and now he’s trying to get back some of those fans I believe. Either way gotta give him respect

I think you’re greatly over rating shavkat. People seem to forget Geoff Neal stunned him a couple times and almost dropped him and Geoff Neal is not Stephen thompson.
