Fun fact about Amazon's Attack: it was originally supposed to be written by Greg Rucka. It was supposed to come directly out of his run on Wonder Woman, but DC decided not to bring him back after Infinite Crisis, even though his run before Infinite Crisis was very well received. I wonder how different the story would've been if Rucka got to write his original story before DC kicked him to the curb to relaunch the book. Great episode.

I highly disagree with that statement. I think he’s a great writer. Both of his Wonder Woman runs are great and definitive, in my opinion. His other runs like Detective Comics after No Man’s Land, Checkmate, Batwoman: Elegy, and Adventures of Superman are all great. His indie books like Lazarus and Queen & Country are some of my favorite comics.

Man, I’m loving this “Bad Comic’s Summer Bash” Sal’s been doing, it’s fun. Also, looks like the countdown to “Comicpop review Countdown” has begun. That review will be five hours long, and only two hours will be the actual review, the rest will be Sal going off on enraged tangents, I can’t wait :)

We're still feeling the consequences of this event. Any Wonder Woman centric event is always disguised as something else. Darkseid War was a Wonder Woman event hidden behind the two biggest villains in the universe. Death Metal was a Wonder Woman event under Batman branding. That's a legacy.

I think they do it because they know that no one's going to buy a WW book otherwise. Honestly, it's their own fault that WW doesn't have any great and memorable runs.

Which is a shame, because the current line of Wonder Woman books (under the Infinite Frontier reboot) is the best-written Amazon-centric story in years. And they’re leading up to an event in a few months that actually looks pretty cool!

So at the end of this, the Amazon’s are mind wiped and assume normal human lives. Isn’t that exactly what happened to the White Martians and the New Gods? Man and I though “Crisis” was DC’s signature move.

I can't tell you how happy I am that you brought up the "Bees. My God" moment. I read this story several years ago & to this day whenever something especially ridiculous happens in my life I say to myself "Bees. My God". Another killer episode guys, keep up the good work!

Amazons Attack was considered the beginning of a painful era for Wonder Woman fans...at least until Gail Simone took the title.

Ah Amazon’s attack such a terrible event that connected to the terrible countdown to final crisis which is somehow even worst and made both this story and countdown twins in my opinion of terrible dc stories and ruined the Wonder Woman mythology which is just sad and depressing.

Okay this was great, but Ben losing it at the Magic Amazonian Bees just absolutely made my year so far. This just mix of utter hysteria and WTF energy was perfect

I've been binging this channel after the Linkara cameo from y'all a couple weeks in a Linkara video, and just like when Linkara covered this a billion years ago on his channel, this video really brought out the laughter in everyone. I think when a book is so bad, it's almost impossibly bad like this one is, it really gets the creative juices going on. Like, it's not enough to say it's bad, comics like this makes you wanna eviscerate the content in it.

@@overlord6993 there's some crossover but this channel is meant to be entertaining and casual, while linkara is pure nerd rage at all times. I also find his voice annoying and hate his weird linkara universe gags like the robot from the future or whatever it is.

The most hilarious part is the whole reason Wonder Woman was fighting Superman is because mind controlled Superman put Batman in the ICU

i honestly would consider dark nights death metal as an alright wonder woman book. Since she literally is the main character.

Being the main character doesn’t make that disaster of a story good.

I would have really liked if killing Maxwell Lord was actually a really hard and difficult decision for Wonder Woman. Something she really didn't want to do but felt like she had to because there us like no way of Superman being freed and it could spread to everyone else. And then it's broadcasted. Many hate her but others try to fight for her cause. The Justice League are in the fence about it but most want to help her get through this. And instead of going into hiding Diana just let's herself get arrested where she is on trial and sentenced to be imprisoned in a special meta human containment facility. And it looks like Diana, despite everything is willing to serve her time and is at least happy that her friends are free. And maybe she spends some time there and maybe reconciles with other "dangerous" meta humans and learn from them or learn why they took the path of life that they did and had ideas and plans to make things better for Meta Humans around the world. And then later you can have Diana end up in a fight where she is locked up in a higher containment area but it is actually a place for others to get info about the Amazon's and their secret weapons which can still lead to 'Everyman' being a thing. Then you have Diana's mother be resurrected and mind controlled within her own subconscious so that it doesn't tip anyone off that she is different in anyway. And she is convinced that "Man" plans to slaughter Diana for defeating one of them and that they are scared of her. And so they see it as an attack on themselves as women, as Amazons and choose to attack. At first being a very bloodless fight but as things get moretense, Diana's mother is influenced to start killing those who attack and the Amazons follow suit. And as things get worse and worse, other Amazon's basically drop out from the fight and are either killed for it or arrested. Then later you have Diana escaping and arriving in DC before let's say the President is about to be killed live on TV as the rest of the major players in the Justice League are dealing with major mythological beasts and monsters and Superman would actually be held back because some use magic or are magic based. So then Wonder Woman shows up and has to fight her own mother and tries to get through to her. But in the end she learns that no matter what, she is unable to break the spell even if she were to defeat or kill Circe. So she goes ahead with killing her own Mother to end the war. But then fights Circe on her own and instead of murdering her which would be so easy and is something she definitely wanted to do in the moment, she knows the difference between killing for the sake of others and killing for the sake of revenge and vows that she's not a bloodthirsty monster unlike Circe and just has her arrested by the Amazonians who take her back. Then, because it's a comic book, you have Wonder Woman given a retrial for recent events where she is let go. And it's celebrated and hated by millions. And though Wonder Woman is now hated more than she was before, she still fights for the sake of man's world and maybe THEN she creates a secret identity to undergo helping out reforming captive Meta Humans. (Long idea but for anyone that actually read all of this and liked it, thanks a lot!)

If these past few weeks of Back Issues have been part of Sal's plan to mentally prepare us for Death Metal.....well it's certainly working.

I just love how done Ben is when Sal mentions the bees. My stomach and face hurts from that reveal alone.

I remember when that came out. My wife tried to read my copies of the series. She gave me back the issues and said that she couldn't finish it. She called it, "Unreadable." I agree. I'd rather work for Amazon than read this again.

Thank you Sal for still doing Wonder Woman books. I know her videos may not always do the best in views but I really do love the character so it's always nice to see a WW Back Issues, even if the story is terrible lol

This comic completely murdered the characters of the amazon nation, they were never man-hating strawman feminists, they liked everyone who treated them with respect.

the funny thing about the mccaran act is that while it is real and it is technically still law, the part of it that allows the president to detain pretty much anyone was repealed in 1971. that took 2 minutes of googling and the first one was figuring out how it was spelt. this comic's writers are dumb.

An army full of conscripts including the like of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. SO INSTEAD OF DOING THAT, JUST TAKE THE AMAZONIAND YOU ALREADY HAD.

I read all of Judd Winick's Outsiders, where Grace is a main cast member and I don't remember them mentioning this book at all. Grace mentions that she found out she's half amazon but not that D.C. was swarmed by Amazonians
