Women's dress, Viking era: silk on the yoke.
Continuation of a series of videos about the history and practice of women's Scandinavian costume.
What did the dress look like in the 10th century, where did the Vikings get their ideas for cutting and decorating their clothes? How do you choose accessories and replicas of jewelry to match your clothing from an archaeological point of view?
Step by step, together with detailed comments, we will sew a dress according to a T-shaped pattern, decorate the collar and sleeves with Byzantine silk, sew 4 wedges and try on the resulting clothes!
I'll tell you about the features of female burial number 965 in Birka, about the conservation of textiles.
Nice music and beautiful video series will be of interest not only to reenactors of the Viking era, but also to everyone who is not indifferent to the history of fashion and manual labor.
