Women's 100m Hurdles Final | World Athletics Championships Doha 2019

Спорт

Welcome to the World Athletics Watch Party, join the conversation on Twitter with our hashtag #WatchWorldAthletics.
The ‘supermom’ theme that had been set at the start of the championships by some of the first few winners of women’s titles had a reprise in the final individual track event of the week.
Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, USA’s Allyson Felix and Chinese race walker Liu Hong had all won gold medals within a year or two of giving birth.
Now Nia Ali, winner of the 100m hurdles in Doha, can be added to that list.
Earlier in 2019, though, the 30-year-old Olympic silver medallist - who has a four-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter - went on record to say that she is no weaker for having had two children.
“Having babies makes us stronger,” she tweeted back in July. “There’s nothing weak about having a baby, so what makes any one person think we won’t ‘make it through it’ and succeed?”

I don't believe it was nerves. The athlete in lane 8 had flinched. I've watched closely in slow motion many times. Both athletes in lanes 8 and 9 were going to stop because of that flinch. Unfortunately for those 2, the race continued. It was over for them after that.

Argghh, that is absolutely not typical of Jameek, she is arguably one of the quickest starters when it comes to hurdling alongside Kendra Harrison. If you watch a lot of her other hurdle races, she is the always the first out of the blocks. You could see here she hesitated on her second step coming out of the blocks, I feel she was nervous and didn't want to false start which is understandable because she is just so quick from the gun. I have no doubt if she didn't hesitate, she would have medaled. She is just so quick from the gun if you watch her other races. I have faith that she will be able to master and control her speed off the block and be the threat that she has shown to be while competing in the SEC Conference. Can't wait to see more of her on the global stage.
