The two female drivers have very different experiences. Myself as a female, OTR, 7 years in industry, independent contractor- I'd say the industry is male dominated and discriminates against women.

Yes... absolutely. I had a very bad experience when I first tried to become a driver. The company I went to were very bad for women. It was Schneider that was back in the early 80's I left and I'm trying it again as we speak I am at a trucking School right now. Schneider turned me off for many years. But I always wanted to become a truck driver so now after all these years I am determined to do it. Thank you ladies for the info.

You are absolutely right. I've been driving semis for 21 years. 6 of those to present had been hauling fuel and believe me, the fuel hauling industry does NOT want female drivers. The entirety of the trucking industry is about image and profit. Other drivers can sugar coat that if they want to, but discrimination against females is rampid, ongoing, and very alive. Males will never know the actual, full extent of what women go through. They never will. It doesn't affect them.

I appreciate a company that accommodates single parents. It has been hard for many parents even while their partner is there and very supportive, I can’t imagine being a single parent and a truck driver. You are amazing and companies that support you probably have a team of very culturally competent leaders… 🙌🏻 👏🏻 🎉

That goes for male or female. Whenever I changed companies and started filling out applications I'd some how get them from reefer companies and I never wanted to pull a reefer.🤷🏼‍♂️ I liked drop & hook and doing that with a reefer is rare. I've been medically retired since 2018 and I still get requests in my email and mailbox from companies to come drive for them.

As with any industry and life in general, it's all about how you carry yourself and behavior, Male or female if you Want respect then own it. If your a female then don't dress like a hootchie, unless that's the type of attention your looking for. Be that King or Queen God design you to be. Every trucker takes control of that truck. Take control of that amazing person you were created to be. Do unto other's as you would like other's to do for you.

Thank you ladies 😊! I'm happy that you are showing this aspect of things to encourage those who truly are skilled women who are gifted at driving! The office is not for me 😢 I love to drive, but it would take too long to be a NASCAR driver, so I decided to get my CDL after much deliberation and various industries, I decided to go for it even though it's intimidating 😅 I would prefer local, but the local work is too much labor or heavy duty or touch frieghts or flatbeds ... These require intensive and excessive lifting and repetitive physical labor that may burn me out and be too strenuous. I simply want to focus on driving and inspection of vehicle to ensure its safety.

Or what is a woman's job for that matter? I still recall a conversation my grandmother had with my brother in the 1960's about learning how to cook. She asked him how would he eat when he got out on his own if his wife was too sick to cook or he never married. He turned out to be the best cook between the three of us.

That’s why I’m scared to go out there to drive a truck I don’t want anyone attacking me or downgrading me because I’m a woman and some of these men are a cruel they will kill you and most of these trucking companies don’t support women they will make sure you fail. I have 4 boys to live for and its sad I cant take up a trucking career.

I can understand your concerns as they are very real, but considering that the covid-19 pandemic has created such a global shortage of skilled workers ( Especially in Trucking) that companies will "Bend over backwards and forwards" to hire and support you whether you're male, female, non gender specific, black, white ,butcher, baker or candlestick maker.😁 Please don't let your fears keep you from a Depression and/or Recession proof Career. REMEMBER: During the "Shutdown", truckers Kept on Trucking! SO.. GO FOR IT!!!!

Excuse me, why do women have to be cleaner than men? She’s not as attractive as she thinks. Additionally, some of the comments she made gives examples of why companies need to make extra provisions for women which might be a disadvantage. I would not want her to advocate for me. On the other hand, however, Most truck companies would hire Pebbles right away.
