This actually makes me sad for her character because some people really go all out for their birthday in the hopes it’ll make up for the incredible loneliness they feel every other day of the year. They milk all the love and affection they get on their birthday because it’s so fleeting. I’m imagining the “flowers on her doorstep” didn’t even happen, she just pretends to make herself feel better.

I don't think anyone should be fishing for attention from random strangers, especially in such an over the top way. It puts an unnecessary and awkward burden on everyone else.. Although if I worked in customer service, I'd rather have to deal with someone like her than someone who's rude or cruel. Plus I feel bad for her. She's clearly very lonely, so I can't hate her.

Let’s see…her name is either Megan or Tiffany and she can’t come to terms with that fact that after she hit 21, adult birthdays don’t get acknowledged the same way. She got a nice bouquet of flowers from her boyfriend and he’s planning a nice but low-key dinner for the two of them. Her family and friends awkwardly tell her that they can’t easily make time during the week for a party. She gets sincere birthday texts from people, but they all have their own adult lives and can’t make her birthday their priority today. Her birthday celebration is basically wrapped up by 8pm, and she wears a plastic princess crown while eating cake in the bathtub and crying/sulking about how she’s not “the birthday girl” anymore, and it’s just another day of the week.

Probably not, I wouldn't. Why not? Because I learned my lesson not to. Story example: "happy birthday!" The lady turned around and was like "omg thank youuuuu~ sooo muchhhh. You are so sweet ❤️" I then thought that would be the end of it, just happy acknowledgement as a stranger and I would go back to my phone while I waited silently in line like everyone else, but nope, the birthday lady had moved over next to me (she had already ordered), and was standing right beside me. In my personal space, in fact. It was a little toooo close. "My bff just texted me and we are going out to my birthday dinner. 😄" the lady announced happily, her face right up close to mine. Me: "uh, ok? Good for you....." "I'm also going to the movies, shopping, and getting a manicure today...(continues to ramble on and on and onnnn about what the rest her birthday day will be like) Me: "uh, ok? Can you move? I have to order my drink" Lady:"But aren't you my friend now??" Me: "uhhh, no..? Why would I be your friend?" Lady: "oh...but I thought we were. :( Now I feel sad. My birthday is ruined. Now I wanna cry. 😭" (People whisper in the store give you weird looks cause of how you ruined a lady's birthday) "Here birthday sweetheart, have a free cupcake." The store owner tells the lady, giving me the stink eye. ^so that's why you don't say happy birthday, because if you do acknowledge a narcissist they will think you are their new bff and make you feel bad, then they will cry and everyone around you will look judge you and think you are a bad person.

The worst part about having customers like this is that they’re being nice to you, so you feel bad if you’re not nice back; if a customer is horrible, you don’t feel bad about hating them, but when customers are like this, they’re so saccharine sweet that you feel obliged to root for them, even though EVERYTHING this character does right from the beginning- the smacking her lips, the “monumental” cupcake decision, the “joke” about getting free stuff (please never do this)- makes my soul itchy, and it’s such an uncomfortable experience. Beautifully acted!
