Woman Takes In Injured Little Skunk And Raises Him As Her Baby | The Dodo

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A Good Samaritan found Gerber on the side of the road. He was dehydrated and couldn’t move his back legs. When he finally gained the strength to stand, he wouldn’t stop walking in circles. Then Crystal had an idea! Watch him get strong enough to wrestle with his cat sister!
For updates on Gerber, check out Shaw Wildlife on Facebook: thedo.do/shawwildlife, and on KZread: thedo.do/shawwildlifesanctuary. You can help support his ongoing care here: thedo.do/helpgerber.

Skunks are surprisingly docile. Way more than people realize. I'm sure there are exceptions where one might be a little "trigger happy," but for the most part, you really have to make them feel threatened for them to spray you. We had an old, blind, and deaf momma skunk that had been coming around since she was a baby, and every night she'd come by for some dinner and pets. I've even accidentally snuck up on some skunks, and they all either just ran, or took up that defensive posture where their tail is straight up and they're stomping at you warning you to get the hell away. Have still never been sprayed.

Motherhood is overrated specially a biolgical child. Society emphasize the need for a woman to have a child or sheis half woman or incompetent. One can be nurturing and have motherly instincts without having a biological child. A woman is not wasted nor her love because she does not have a biolgical child. If a woman wants to have a biological child and able i am for it. I happen to be a woman who chose not have a biological child. If i ever have a child it would only be through adoption. That would be a noble thing to do. I am nurturing and i know i could be a good mother to a human child or non_human.

Many people know that skunks can be carry rabies. Other people might have taken him to a nearby vet for euthanasia, and still others may have reported the skunk to the police, since rabies is a concern. Other people may have never noticed the skunk, or thought he was dead, if they did notice him. It’s really easy to judge others for those things we do ourselves.

They wouldn't spray over their own den and family unless they felt extremely threatened and in danger, just like bees rarely sting beekeepers. For that matter, your dog, especially if they are a large one and wolflike in appearance, is closely related to animals that have been known to hunt and kill isolated humans in the wild. Yet, quite rightly, we don't worry about having our large dogs watch and play with our small children, just as they protected and played with us as children. Why would your skunk spray if everything was normal? If they were to spray, it would be directed at a threatening outsider, just like a pet dog growling at an intruder.

@@brianmccarthy5557 I agree with you 1000% !!! Some states equate something small like squirrels to lions and tigers. My vet one time told me they could be fined $5000 or more for caring for one that's privately owned. I live in the sticks and there are people that have skunks. They are the sweetest of pets around and almost no one that I talked to has ever been sprayed.

I'm from Bavaria, Germany and i do the same Thing every Autumn when i find young Hedgehogs, Eyes still closed and underweight and other wild Animals if they are in Need of Help and then of course make sure they learn how to take Care of themselves and release them to Nature at the right Time. I also adopt neglected & mistreated Animals. I live in Nature at the Foot of the Bavarian Alps and got enough Room and the Means to do so. So i'm very glad to see a lot of People around the World do the same and i'm glad i found your Series! Prost and Cheers from Berchtesgaden here in Germany

Well, we are made in the image of God. So at our best you are seeing a glimpse of Him. We were actually put here in part to care for his animals, and they are wired to understand that (hence why they will seek us out for help but not other wild animals). Originally no human or animal ate one another and there was no reason for them to fear us, but then the Fall and then the Flood...however, they reset back to that original trusting state almost too easily because that is TRUE nature. You wouldn't believe the types of animals who have sought my help intentionally and miraculously. Even monarch butterflies with shredded wings who somehow managed to used their last few flaps (that shouldn't have even been possible with the state of their wings) to get to me. Becaude I know how to fix butterfly wings. God is Love.

Only a few people in this world choose to be kind. Be it to animals or fellow humans. Others will only act when it starts affecting them. Skunks have the most luxurious soft fur. I used to pet a wild skunk that would come to visit and he was very polite. And of course, he loved the attention...
