Have you housetrained Merlin too? If so how did you housebreak him in the house? People have told me they can use a litter box/pan or train them like a dog. I need instructions actually down to the letter T since I've got one that pottys still in the house but loves to go outside with my doggies and acts like a dog as well.

Pigs are very intelligent, Merlin is living his best life! So nice to see an owner doing everything correctly when it comes to a non traditional pet. 💖🐷

No. It doesn't belong in the apartment. One has a duty to offer this animal a natural habitat outside, where it can burrow in the earth, where it can wallow, even in the mud. Also, pigs need conspecifics. Keeping them alone makes them sick. They become behavioral. Pigs are herd animals and must be kept in groups of at least three. What this woman is doing to the animal is absolute animal cruelty. The animal must be taken from her and placed in a sancuary.

So awesome! I had a pot belly growing up. He was amazing! ❤❤❤ He slept in my bed with me every night, would use a litter box, scratch at the back door when he wanted to go outside, did tricks, was full of personality... the list goes on and on. He was a super special guy ❤ I'm 40 now and still miss him all the time.

Have u considered adopting another pig? 🤔 I know there is no replacing the other one, but it's worth it to make yourself happy & to also know u are giving a pig a home. Am sure there are alot of piggy rescues out there. 🥰

Ursaltydog, animals that are suffering in factory farms and slaughter houses are always on my mind. How about you, can you turn and look the other way, do you approve of forcing pigs into gas chambers, if you ever heard them screaming for their lives,trying to escape you would never forget it. Pigs are more intelligent than dogs. If you are eating, bacon,sausages, pork chops, ham etc you are paying someone to abuse and kill pigs on your behalf, why would you choose to do that when you could easily choose something else to eat that doesn't deliberately cause suffering and death to someone ? When we know better we can do better !

Sometimes people just need a little educating when it comes to an animal they know nothing about. The fact that you trained your pig so well, shows many people (not just your family), all the misconceptions about owning an “unusual” pet. Well done!! I've known 2 different people who had a pet pig in their lives. One was a mixed pot bellied pig named Wimpy and a few years later a person with a small pot bellied pig named Porthos. Both were very intelligent, lovable and easily trained. I can understand anyone wanting a pig as a pet.

All that training is also so good for his mental stimulation and their bond. Pigs can become so destructive if they’re not stimulated and their needs aren’t being met but he is suck a happy little oinker!!

We should not promote pigs as pets, despite their intelligence. When they grow up they are not really suited to live in a house. Many people find them cute as first and they abandon them.
