Now I know exactly why so many indigenous people distrust boarding schools because they've been discriminated and abused a lot just because they are different and all white civilized English people assume that indigenous people are bad influence, uncivilized, badly mannered and not perfect. But we know it's not true and for Madeline who thought she had it bad for not being perfectly ladylike after being falsely accused for misbehaving at the fancy luncheon in the Louvre. Even though Madeline isn't really misbehaving but trying to stop two thieves from stealing the famous mona lisa painting.

In America kill the Indian save the child. I can't even imagine what these children went through. The abuse, cutting their hair, those nuns were so hateful. It's sad and disturbing .

Not so much these people who were on the reservation and for years kept segregated, so there was not a lot of relationships with white people and native, producing biracial offspring. These are people descended from the people that were here already when the Europeans started coming over here in the late 1400s. I used to know one person who related stories of growing up in one of these boarding schools: Rufus silversmith, a full-blooded Cherokee, born on a reservation in Oklahoma. He said they were taken by force from their parents to the schools to bring them- up in the mainstream American culture and to distance them from their native background. the younger people were targeted, because that's how you change a society. It's important to know how far this went beyond the state level and into the federal system and when this was happening in earnest, what political parties were in power. A darling of the Left To This Day, F.D.R is the only president in history for example, to round- up by executive order American citizens, who were a minimum of one quarter Japanese ancestry and put them in locked camps for the duration of world war II and furthermore did not set aside any process for them to hold their capital for the duration, so what they could not liquidate in a specified time frame before they had to report to these camps, they lost.

@@blacklivesmatters3151 well I don't think there were "black" people here yet, they were brought over from a different continent to be slaves. one thing that ends all debate now is DNA testing, that will tell you where somebody's ancestry really lies and what proportions that individual inherited. Central & South Americans today mostly are made up of as much European ancestry (white) as they are native, so when they talk about "white" people, like they're not one, they're ignorant about their own heritage and the resulting biracial society that was created starting with the Spanish occupation and resulting inbreeding.
