Woman, Nkechi Ofashi Narrates Terrifying Ordeal in Kidnappers Den

On the 1st of June, 2024, Mrs. Nkechi Ofashi was tragically abducted by herdsmen in the farm. She endured unimaginable hardships, including physical abuse and torture, during her five-day ordeal. The kidnappers demanded a hefty ransom of 1.5 million nairas for her safe release. As a farmer, her husband, Mr. Raymond Ofashi did not have this substantial amount of money at his disposal. In a desperate bid to secure his wife's freedom, he reached out to the compassionate and supportive members of their community in Umutu for assistance through MC Bobito.
Chief Solomon Igwulu, a revered figure in the community, stepped forward and generously contributed 1.1 million nairas towards the ransom. This act of kindness was further complemented by the contributions of other benevolent individuals within the community. Through the collective efforts and solidarity of the community, the required ransom was raised, leading to the safe release of Mrs. Ofashi.
In this emotional video, the resilient couple recounted their harrowing ordeal and graciously offered words of wisdom and advice to fellow farmers, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and community support in the face of adversity.

This story made me very emotional. The last time I was home not long ago an Agbor man died in an evening in the hands of these terrorists. First I will also like to thank the good spirited men and women who helped her release. I want to then appeal that we should all dialogue on the way forward in this matter men and women.' Bi ko ni kanyi tu ni ilolo kanyi ba egwari' My suggestion may not be the best but I ll suggest for now women should not go to the farms but men help themselves in turns on each others farm and go in groups in the spirit of brotherliness and corporation. Further I want to appeal to our leaders the local govt leaders and senate representatives. A true politician is the one who has a lot of love for his or her people. The three ukwuani local areas need Rangers with licensed guns in the bushes and close to the farms especially during farming days and hours. Men going to farms should also be armed with licensed shot guns and go in groups. My suggestion may be the least and not the best but if the federal authorities have failed us , I believe God and the wisdom he has given us can still make us pull through.' Ishegwari'

Our ancestors chased these people away but today their descendants are chasing us. How coward are we these generation of men We can't even protect our children again. People that our forefathers defeated with bare hand with Mysterious powers. The land is vomiting the rightful owners because the ancient boundaries had been tampered and there is a sapent to bite.

Itakpe-ajaokuta-warri railway line serves as a compass for these criminals. Kidnapping has become a big business venture for these criminals. The road between Ekuku Agbor and Agbor has become too hot for these criminals. Umutu to Abavo road is completely damaged and not passable. It used to be their den. Hence the new trend is to go to farms and kidnap people. The communities living along this rail line needs to come together and work together. Delta and Edo state governments have no interest in addressing this problem. Villagers need to arm these vigilantes to fight back. Our traditional rulers are also not so interested in solving this problem. This is why food prices are getting higher. Let us form a thinktank and come up with strategies.
