Realistically speaking, why the heck would a much younger attractive male be interested in an older woman ? We are talking about men with either a 6-pack and/or exciting professions worldwide. WHY would any woman not ask herself why her on line beau has so much TIME on his hands, are in love with you when you've never even met, lead drama filled lives what with locked out bank accounts, teenage children requiring an i-phone replacement, accidents at work yadda yadda yadda.

I would treat for dinners & lunches, put gas in his car, just, no cash. A month later, he tried again to get money from me for a reason he gave that I found to be a big lie. Although it hurt to let go of him, I knew that it was time. I took him out for dinner, brought with me any gift he had given to me. I gave the gifts back to him, wished him well I was crying & hurting for a long time after that. I got through it.

There was no romantic relationship, no son, no business trips. It was all a means to an end. I watch the Catfished stories and they all talk like this. When it’s over and they have lost tens of thousands of dollars they still seem to believe there was at a time a mutual love and they were some big wig engineer with a lot of bad luck. Mostly the scammed person is in very deep and it likely takes years for them to return to their full senses.

She did not say, but I have heard and read enough of these to know that there is ALWAYS greed of the client (“victim”) involved. Always. She also did not say, but I would suspect this man told her he is quite younger than she, and that “age is just a number,” and stole photos that show him as beautifully handsome. He then told her that “looks don’t matter. It’s what’s on the inside that counts,” lol.

There is someone for everyone I see it all the time in real life, the mall the grocery store. The problem is that some people who have a less desirable dating pool like the idea that some super handsome or beautiful person is attracted to them so they get swept away. They like the idea and fantasy that some super hot suave guy wants them damn well knowing that in their everyday life it’s not as realistic. Harsh truth. So when it’s online they can live out their fantasy. Honestly, these people usually fall victim to this because of superficial reason regardless of what they tell the public. Desperation is a bitch

Dudes that ask women for money at the beginning of relationships are losers. I'm a dude. That being said, this is 100% the women's fault - unless he (or his friends) used a gun and robbed you, or held you against your will. I'll say, women scamming men out of money the usual line of business. Via onlyfans, strip club, gold digging, russian bridal websites, alimony, and many more... When dudes get scammed it is 100% the man's fault unless the women (or her friend) hold's him unwillingfully - (drugged and robbed, invited to hotel room and her boyfriend comes out and robs him, ect)...

Yes this I agree with. I think it is a sense of arrogance that they probably ignored more normal unremarkable people in favour of some dreamboat because they have a heightened view of how attractive they are and what they are owed. When you are older you are lucky if you find a new relationship. Nothing is guaranteed. Go for somebody normal. Don't go for the dreamboat that you think you deserve. It is arrogance.

I'm sorry this happened to your family. I hope good things come your way so you can be free from that hole as soon as possible. My mom fell for it too. $700 in gift cards for a 'package at the airport'. From the 'widow with a child' to the 'military man needs money' she fell for it all. No matter how many times my husband and I warned her it was a scam, it didn't matter. She had super low self esteem at the time due to being divorced from my father recently and nobody could convince her it was a scam. She called us crying one day saying she couldn't pay rent and was going to be kicked out of her place. We paid her rent with the condition that she would never again send money to someone she had never met before. She's been very careful since but it put a strain on our personal relationship for a while. It's hard to watch it happen to someone you love dearly, especially when they won't listen to reason.

I had someone who attempted to do the exact same things with the almost exact same story. He was from Italy living in L.A. His wife died 2 years previously he had a daughter who was living with his father when he had to go on jobs. He was some kind of advisor for the oil industry. His latest job would bring in $3 million. I was always on the skeptical side because I had heard of scammers. He had contacted me through Twitter. He wanted to start talking through some other option to which I declined. Finally came the day where he asked me to help his daughter buy school books because his credit card was cancelled and he was waiting for the new one. I told him off and blocked him. However, I also ultimately met my partner through an app and we’d never have met otherwise. Be smart. Drive yourself and meet in public places until you know each other well. Get to know the other person’s social circle. Don’t give away your red flags but heed them when you see them. Don’t send or spend money, ladies. I feel the key here is, while we don't wish to scare off our possible forever love by being skeptical about everything, there has to be a level of asking questions. If you ask a question and they get defensive or evasive, that could be a red flag. If the conversation of money comes in to play early in the game especially when you've never met face to face, another red flag.

Right. I used to work at a grocery store at the service desk and one of the things I had to do was run the customer service desk. During training, they flat out told us that whenever we suspect someone getting scammed, we need to discretely file a SAR report on the individual when we suspect someone is being scammed. This in effect blocks and bans the sender and receiver from wiring and getting money. What she probably was doing was going from store to store to avoid detection and this is why she was never flagged in the system. It wasn’t until 3-4 years ago that now we can see on our end the transaction history of the customer to prevent this from happening. If he’s from Australia and has an African sounding name and accent, she should’ve walked away.
