Meanwhile groups of naked men walk the street, with their erections in full view of children, while in another section there is public masturbation and invitation to participate in 'golden showers'. Not one person cautioned or arrested, because it was a rainbow event. Does it excuse this addled person? No, but rules for some, but not for all.

Agreed, well said! Sorry this is long but I can relate. I broke my neck in 2010 and then suffered opioid addiction for the next 11-12 years. I got in trouble one night(possession) towards the end of my addiction and the cops I dealt with were all extremely compassionate with me and my situation and it actually changed my outlook on the police a lot. Granted, my experience was quite different than most of the body cams we see on these channels, as I took accountability for my screw up almost immediately upon rolling down my window and was just honest about my current struggles with addiction to the police as I could tell they were receptive. I told them how it all started through legitimate prescriptions during the height of the Oxy epidemic and how I eventually found myself sourcing opioids illegally like so many others. I was still charged(and rightfully so), but I entered into a detox & treatment program 4 days later and have completely turned my life around! However, prior to telling those police my struggles, I had kept it a secret from most people in my life. I had a great career at the same place for 7 years, i invested in my future, I had no criminal record, a 700+ credit score, my own place and car, still engaged with family/friends regularly, so nobody had much reason to be suspicious. Anyway, talking to those police and finally being honest with someone about my struggles and then receiving words of compassion, kindness, encouragement, and the cold hard truth, was what finally lit that fire in me to change! It gave me the courage to finally get honest with my family and seek professional help! Had the police that busted me just been callus, I don’t know that I would have let all my guards down and I probably would’ve continued using and died of an overdose… and I also recognized that me being held accountable by myself and the courts was essential to my recovery, it really did help keep me accountable through those first phases of recovery that are so difficult! As of yesterday July 5th 2024, I have now three years clean and I feel incredibly grateful to be alive and free of that wretched existence 💪🙌🙏
